Help Solve the Mystery: Public Art Destroyed In Lincoln Park?

Was it vandalism or Mother Nature? This weekend, a prominent abstract sculpture in Lincoln Park was evidently destroyed, as shown in the image above. The space is part of the neighborhood's rotating "Art in the Park" series, and sits just north of Webster and Stockton Drive (across the street from the entrance to the Lincoln Park Zoo) in a perennial English garden known as Grandmother's Garden.

As of this writing, I cannot find any information regarding the artist or the name of the sculpture itself, but I walk by the garden twice a day on my commute, and for the last year or so, it has stood upright in the semblance of a steel umbrella. If anyone has any further info on the sculpture, please let us know!
