Clear Day Rosters

With the Clear Day Rosters being released today, the Wolves had some decisions to make. Below is the entire roster that is eligible for the rest of the season and playoffs.

Matt Climie (G)  Eddie Lack (G)

Nolan Baumgartner  Mark Matheson

Kevin Connauton  Ryan Parent

Dustin Friesen  Adam Polasek

Jordan Henry  Yann Sauve

Byron Bitz  Tim Miller

Kevin Doell Victor Oreskovich

Mike Duco  Anton Rodin

Andrew Gordon  Steve Reinprecht

Darren Haydar  Jordan Schroeder

Mark Mancari  Bill Sweatt

There are not a lot of surprises on this roster but a few that I think that should be noted.

Newly acquired defenseman Jordan Henry is on the roster. Henry was recently acquired from the Abbotsford Heat in return for JP Testwuide.

Kevin Doell who is still suffering from post-concussion symptoms is on the roster. Doell hasn’t played since late November and there are conflicting reports whether he has resumed skating. Hopefully he is healthy in time for the playoffs but with the focus on concussions recently, many hockey teams will take the slow recovery time.

Another player that is listed on the roster is Dustin Friesen, who I believe is also recovering from an injury. Friesen hasn’t played December 31st and has only accumulated 19 games for the season.

The official rule is below regarding Clear Day Rosters:

“Each Clear Day roster consists of a maximum of 22 players. According to AHL by-laws, only those players listed on a team’s Clear Day roster are eligible to compete in the remainder of the 2011-12 AHL regular season and in the 2012 Calder Cup Playoffs, unless emergency conditions arise as a result of recall, injury or suspension.”

Now with that rule I would have to think that Mike Davies would be back in the lineup. He has been nothing but a spark to the offensive challenged team lately and has shown he can make plays. It is surprising that he isn’t on the roster but hopefully with the injuries still lingering, he gets a shot.

Now Wendell Young has said that there might be a few players added after their college season is over, to fill out the Black Aces roster.
