Meet Laila Drew: Star of American Girl Live – a national Broadway style musical tour.
The tour began in December 2018 and is currently running across the east coast and scheduled to debut on the west coast this month.
Laila Drew is an adult SAG eligible actress. She has performed in theatre, dance, commercial, TV and film since the age of nine. One of her most distinctive features is her youthful appearance.
As recent as this past July, Laila performed as Lex Harris in the musical production of Generation Me in the 2017 New York Musical Theatre Festival. The productions took Best Musical, Outstanding Book and Outstanding Ensemble. She also had the distinct pleasure of performing at 54 Below, where she sang her solo from the Musical.
When asked about why playing the character Melody is so important, she mentioned her passion for portraying positive role models for girls of color. “It importance to portray positive images for young girls, especially girls of color.”
Laila has been trained in theatre arts by award winning Broadway actress and dancer, Debbie Allen and team and has also worked with Broadway choreographer, Mark Burrell during a summer production of Pippin, where she played Leading Player.
