The Holidays in Chicago

The Holidays in Chicago

I am both excited and apprehensive about the upcoming Holiday Season.  As a child, these were the most memorable and joyful times of the year.  Christmas and Thanksgiving were delightful Holidays filled with food, fun and joy.  Unfortunately, they have become dangerous Holidays in some neighborhoods and sad ones for some that have little to no family in their lives.  Since returning to the Chicago area, I have become more cautious and deliberate about my moves; rarely walking around at night and also watching my surroundings.  I also make an extra push to reach out to those that have no family and friends in area, serving and volunteering more often.  Not that I am mother Teresa or anything, but I challenge you and your family to do the same; as you enjoy the holiday season, share with others and also be safe.  Watch your surroundings and avoid those extra outings that may place you and your family in harm’s way.  The current Chicago is not the Chicago of our childhood. Good Decisions + Good Times = The Good Life

  • Nope its not it used to be about children the windows of state street ...now that's a thing of the past but when commerce wedded christianity (which happened long ago) at least it was a little more quieter. As far as the safety issue is concerned people are more in your face than ever false bravado brought about by media manipulation makes fools of us all we just need to keep our radar up and our faith strong. Happy Holidays (that is politically correct isnt it?)

Agreed Craig! There are layers underneath everything and we must decide what to take and what to leave behind.
