Are redheads more emotionally sensitive?

Are redheads more emotionally sensitive?
We already know that redheads are more sensitive to hot and cold, and need more anesthesia, and have a higher pain tolerance. But could redheads also be more emotionally sensitive? At some point, I realized that I noticed a lot of autistic people happen to be redheads. And as we know, people with autism tend... Read more »

Why Covid-19 Isolation Is Great For Redheads

Why Covid-19 Isolation Is Great For Redheads
I know everyone is going crazy with lockdowns and social distancing and quarantining and other buzzwords. Except for one group that shouldn’t be: redheads. Hear me out! Shelter-in-place and mask-wearing mandates are great for redheads because: 1. It means we aren’t forced to expose ourselves to the sun for social events with the daywalkers. 2.... Read more »

Redhead Autism Link?

Redhead Autism Link?
Over and over again, I’ve noticed that when people tell me they’re autistic, or their child is autistic, the autistic person often has red hair. I’m not the only one who’s noticed this. I’ve even started to suspect lately that my (red-haired) brother may be autistic. The MC1R gene mutation that causes red hair causes... Read more »

Royal Wedding: No Hope Left for Ginger Heirs

Royal Wedding: No Hope Left for Ginger Heirs
Today is a sad day for gingers. Prince Harry and Sparkles likelihood of carrying ginger babies is quite low. I’m still unreasonably angry Prince Harry didn’t choose me instead. I mean c’mon, we’d have been like, the cutest couple ever. Something tells me the Queen was OK with the ceremony being so atraditional because she... Read more »

Horoscopes for Redheads

Over the past few years, I’ve been getting my hands dirty in astrology. And not like “my horoscope said that today I’m going to pet a goat and then the goat will bite my finger off, but it’s OK because I’ll win $13.50 at the petting zoo raffle.” Since obviously, that could be applied to... Early 20s Nostalgia

Early 20s Nostalgia
I’ve been feeling nostalgic about 2009-2011ish lately. Everything felt new & fresh. It was the dawn of the social media age, and I had Twitter before pretty much anyone else did (#humblebrag). Through social media, I was building a personal brand, getting to talk to editors of big magazines who otherwise would’ve never given me... Read more »

Valentine's Day Sucks (As Usual)

Valentine's Day Sucks (As Usual)
Today is D-Day. Whether you’re single, in a relationship or in the purgatory that is somewhere in between, Valentine’s Day can be hell. If you’re single, seeing all the fucking teddy bears, flowers, chocolates, couples dressed up for their dinner reservations feels like a serious slap in the face. If you’re in a relationship, all... Red Hair Fading Acceptance

Red Hair Fading Acceptance
“Babe, your hair is getting so blonde!” my hairstylist said. “What are you doing to my beautiful red hair?” “Nothing. It’s fading,” I said, nearly in tears. My coworker S has been telling me lately that he thinks of me more as a blonde than a redhead. Le sigh. “Are you going grey? You’re too... Read more »

    thegingerphiles

The Ginger Phile has had the unfortunate disposition of being a ginger since birth. She has tried various medications to cure her gingervitis, including therapies such as tantrum-throwing. Her efforts have been to no avail. Instead, she is trying to write it out, via this blog. Unfortunately, she doesn't think it will bear a soul for her. The Ginger Phile is from the exotic land of Wisconsin, where she had daily inner turmoil over whether she was a ginger or a daywalker. So far, three of three votes say daywalker. She begs to differ, as someone recently told her they would want to be with her if they were biking at night because she is so pale.
