Lil' Kim Vs. Nicki Minaj...when does the drama really end??

When I was in high school...which was more than ten years ago...I was a HUGE Lil' Kim fan!!
She was a big ticket item back then, so everybody around me was a fan too. Reflecting on her last four albums, I have to say No Time & Crush On You were my all time favorites songs of hers. Though she never quite took a break from Music and Television altogether, Lil' Kim has been anxious to keep people from comparing her to late sensation Nicki Minaj. The entertainment world is loving Nicki Minaj right now, as she gains national attention from music

lovers. Her style is reminiscent of Lil' Kim's, especially being a female MC making strides in the male-dominated industry. Upon her break onto the scene, critics and fans all said the same thing. Friday, Lil' Kim released a serious diss song dedicated to Nicki with hardcore lyrics:

This debate between the old and new school of female MCs is not a fresh crop. However, Nicki's solo album "Pink Friday" debut this past Friday on the traditional "Black Friday" after Thanksgiving. Cleverly, Lil' Kim released her 6-minute "Black Friday" diss track on Hot 97 on the same day:

See the fact is, what you doing I did it
Lames trying to clone my style, run with it
Thats cool, I was the first one with it
You deluded kim wannabe you just hate to admit it
I'm the Blueprint you aint nothing brand new
Check ya posters and videos, you'll always be number 2

Nicki Minaj openly admits that Lil' Kim has been an influence of hers. It's unfortunate that it has to go this far. I wonder if Nicki will respond with a rebuttal track. What do you think?? Check out the track if you dare but put the kiddies to bed first.

  • It's sad when a more "established" artist tries to throw shade on an artist trying to blaze her own path. Yes, they're similar in dress, but only cuz they're sistas and short. Minaj has a whole different lyrical style of delivery.

What Lil Kim needs to do is work with some smart producers to put out quality material instead of trying to stir up the masses.

I agree with you 110%. It's really unfortunate because this happens in a lot of different industries...even in entertainment and corporate America. If Lil Kimmie is feeling intimidated, you're right, she needs to step her game up!
