Festival First Saves Best For Last

Festival First Saves Best For Last

Not long ago we premiered our very first feature film "Dark Before Dawn" to a full house at the Marcus Cinema in Elgin, IL. It was a grand night and we looked forward to launching our film into the festival circuit with anticipation and optimism. Today, we are delighted to announce that we have been selected to screen as part of The United Festival: Chicago.

"Dark Before Dawn" tells the story of a young woman who oversleeps her stop on the train and is stranded overnight in Elgin where she strikes up a tentative friendship with a local stranger. It was produced in the microbudget 'mumblecore' style with only a loose plot outline developed before production. As a result, much of the action- and all of the dialogue that you see on the screen was improvised by Garlock and Karen. In addition, each actor developed their respective character in private: their only instruction was that their character was to have a Big Secret that would be revealed in the course of the film. If you have ever tried to put together a portfolio or an album then you will know that the best way to impress your audience is to put your very best work at the beginning- to catch their attention- and your next best work at the end- so that they leave impressed. Everybody knows to save the best for last! "Dark Before Dawn" has been selected as the final film for the festival's closing night on September 27th. We don't mind being the Grand Finale for our Festival Premier!

Not only with The United Fest: Chicago be the very first time "Dark Before Dawn" entertains a festival audience, it will be the first time we have the pleasure of showing it in our hometown of Chicago.  Held annually at the Music Box Theatre, The United Festival is a multi-city festival that also screens in San Francisco, New York, London, Tulsa and Los Angeles. We were introduced to the festival in 2009 with the screening of our short film "The Visionary" and have been big fans ever since.

We welcome you to join us for our Festival Premier Grand Finale screening of "Dark Before Dawn". Here are the details:
