Chicago Craft Beer Weekend, May 31 - June 2

Chicago Craft Beer Weekend, May 31 - June 2
I am caught in a very busy time: on top of my regular 40-hour work week, I'm working nearly 40 hours more on a seasonal job from home, as in four-hour shifts during the week and 24 hours during the weekend. So I'm punching this through now and adding more stuff as it comes in. And there is another new beer maker having a "soft opening" this weekend. One Lake Brewing has opened its doors to shake down its recipes and staff. They're at 1 Lake St. in Oak Park, just of the Lake St. Green Line station...

Chicago Craft Beer Weekend, March 30-April 1

Chicago Craft Beer Weekend, March 30-April 1
We've come through Oberon Day, now it's time to scare up for Kentucky Breakfast Stout, which is from Michigan. Which is whom Loyola is playing in the NCAA Final Four Saturday night. Some might say that out of loyalty to a Chicago team, you should boycott high-priced Michigan beers, but I'm not one of those. Tickets went on sale Wednesday and sold out in minutes, although to be fair, they could only manage 500 guests. What I'm suggesting is, don't wait to try and snag these tickets: Oath Day at Solemn Oath in Naperville is Saturday, June 8. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 30 at their website. Dark Lord Day at Three Floyds in Munster is Saturday, May 19. Tickets go on sale March 31 at Noon CDT, at eTix.com. Oh, yes, and Easter. I've posted some Easter brunches in places known for a good beer list...

Chicago Craft Beer Weekend, June 9–11

Chicago Craft Beer Weekend, June 9–11
Is this weekend going to be typical of the craft beer events available around Chicago all summer long? Could be! I count two "village" beer fest, five put on by brewers, and one offered by a bar. Plus more beer releases and things to do! Wednesday's Tribune has a Business article noting the current boom in brewery tap rooms, especially in our town. It includes a discussion about whether this is driving business away from local bars. (Chicago Tribune)...
