So I've finally gotten a good list of events for Dark Day Weekend; including Dark Lord Day itself. I know, DLD is actually sold out, but there is a lot going on related to it. And there re so-o-o-o many other beer fests from Munster to Rockford.
I still need to plug in a few more Illinois Craft Beer Week events for Friday. I've been totally swamped with work that involves getting paid. But you can see what's going on, at illinoisbeer.org/icbw/
The big thing for this weekend is that tickets are going on sale Saturday at noon for Dark Lord Day, being held May 18 at Three Floyds Brewpub.
Meantime, there's some good news: Moody Tongue Brewing has announced they will be expanding by leasing the building that previously held Baderbräu. As it turns out, all of Baderbräu's brewing equipment was auctioned off, but Moody Tongue has already begun installing stainless, including moving their existing tanks once they've been emptied. Josh Noel, of course, has the story. Chicago Tribune
While we have Illinois Craft Beer Week underway, today is also Dark Lord Day at Three Floyds in Indiana. Yes, it’s sold out (I did warn you), but there are plenty of other events inspired by it! Saturday, May 19
We've come through Oberon
Day, now it's time to scare up for Kentucky Breakfast Stout
, which is from Michigan. Which is whom Loyola is playing in the NCAA Final Four Saturday night. Some might say that out of loyalty to a Chicago team, you should boycott high-priced Michigan beers, but I'm not one of those. You'd see me in the background rubbing my hands and saying, "More for me, heh! Heh!"
I also note that Mikerphone Brewing
put up tickets for "Smells Like a Beerfest", a party for the release of their barrel-aged Smells Like Bean Spirit
imperial coffee stout, with pours from dozens of guest breweries, on April 28. Tickets went on sale Wednesday and sold out in minutes, although to be fair, they could only manage 500 guests. What I'm suggesting is, don't wait to try and snag these tickets:
at Solemn Oath
in Naperville is Saturday, June 8. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 30 at their website.
Dark Lord Day
at Three Floyds
in Munster is Saturday, May 19. Tickets go on sale March 31 at Noon CDT, at eTix.com.
Oh, yes, and Easter. I've posted some Easter brunches in places known for a good beer list...
