DESTIHL Beers Finally Come to Chicago

DESTIHL Beers Finally Come to Chicago
What Illinois-based brewer has earned a disproportionate share of plaudits and medals? Pours at many local beerfests although it has no beer on Chicago shelves? And makes even die-hard Illini beer geeks admit a grudging respect for the home of Illinois State? You read the headline, of course. It’s the DESTIHL Brewery, the production arm... Read more »

Well, after many delays caused by various factors: so many more events for my calendar articles, hunting for jobs, trying to finish some homework, I have just now finally edited my interview and can happily present it here...

Omission is a new player in the gluten-free beer market
This October has been Celiac Awareness Month,* intended to promote awareness of the autoimmune deficiency triggered by the consumption of the glutens found in wheat, barley, and other cereal grains. Oskar Blues' Ten FIDY now in Chicago
Following Oskar Blues' entry in the Chicago beer market in August, the Colorado brewer has announced that its canned Imperial Stout, Ten FIDY, will make its debut here as a winter seasonal. The beer, which clocks in at 10.5% alcohol by volume (thus the name) is available in Chicago this week on tap and in cans at SmallBar DivisionThe Owl and Jake Melnick’s, and will appear elsewhere until February.
