Not only is it the weekend before Halloween, but it's the weekend on the first Beer Culture Summit, a program of beer scholarship and, well, beer drinking, sponsored by the Chicago Brewseum in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institution. This should be right up my alley, but I can't be spared from work and family duties, and besides, I'm having a bad recovery from a minor surgical procedure.
That meant I couldn't get to Tuesday's media preview for Goose Island's Bourbon County Stout. Apparently, Tribune beer writer Josh Noel was shut out of it, according to his Twitter feed. Kind of odd, since all of us beer geeks fling snark at Goose Island and its corporate master at one time or another.
