Hey beer friends, here's another event for which I've offered the chance to give away tickets.
This week's edition of "Authors on the Lake" will feature Chicago Tribune beer writer Josh Noel, discussing his book, Barrel Aged Stout and Selling Out, which explores the sale of Goose Island Beer Co. to Anheuser-Busch and how the craft beer movement became enormously popular
The event is hosted by Cleetus Friedman, executive chef of The Lakefront Restaurant, in Theater on the Lake, 2401 N Lake Shore Dr, Chicago, on Wednesday, April 17. Doors open at 7 pm. Interview and questions and answers with the author will begin at 7:30 pm.
The evening will kick off with a one-one conversation between Noel and chef Cleetus. Noel will discuss how he broke the news of the sale of Goose Island, and the resulting backlash from Chicagoans and beer fanatics across the country.
They will then be joined onstage by Jared Rouben, president and brewmaster of Moody Tongue, and Tom Korder, co-founder and brewmaster of Penrose Brewing Co., for a panel discussion. The panel will explore in-depth the ever-changing craft brew industry and how a brewery should evolve and grow.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a question and answer session with Noel. Guests will enjoy light food and a discerning selection of craft beers curated by Cleetus, including Stone Brewing Rumvergnugen, Goose Island 2018 Vanilla Bourbon County, Moody Tongue Barrel Aged Gingerbread Imperial Stout, and Penrose Wild 26: Blended Sour Brown Ale Aged in wine barrels with cherries.
Tickets for Authors on The Lake are $40 in advance and $50 at the door. Tickets are available by visiting www.theateronthelake.com. Diners to The Lakefront Restaurant prior to Authors on the Lake receive 10% off dinner and drinks. Reservations required at 312-414-1313 or theateronthelake.com.
