Many apples have been crushed for your enjoyment this week, as we observe Chicago Cider Week in advance of Saturday's Chicago Cider Summit at Navy Pier.

And watching the Super Bowl at this point in posting my article, we find Budweiser wants you to know they don't use "corn syrup" in their Bud Light. They don't want to tell you about rice syrup.

Monday update: HopCat, the Chicago edition of a chain of craft beer bars emanating from Michigan, abruptly announced that it is closing today. This statement has appeared on its website:
