Update: It's Thursday as I add this note. The Field Museum just posted this on their Facebook page, at about 3:30:
Something delightful has arrived! Toppling Goliath Brewing Co.'s highly acclaimed Morning Delight Imperial Stout is now on tap. Kick off your museum visit with this 12% coffee beer. (We highly encourage the responsible consumption of Morning Delight followed by selfies with Máximo.) ☕️
The Museum is closed for the evening, but you may want to come by at opening on 9 o'clock Friday. Morning Delight is ranked #3 on ratebeer.com's All Time Top 50 beers list. #1 happens to be another TG brew, Kentucky Brunch.
Old Town Social, the beer-forward bar on North Ave., has posted notice that they have closed. Their Facebook post explains:
We were presented with an opportunity to sell the building where Old Town Social resides, and have made the difficult decision to do so. As such, last Sunday was our final night of service. After 9 amazing and crazy years, the timing just seemed right to focus on the sale and to fully embrace this next chapter in our lives.
Founders Brewing hs announced that their final 2018 Barrel-Aged Series release will be the return of Canadian Breakfast Stout. The imperial stout aged in maple syrup barrels will be available for pre-paid pickup (and on tap) Nov. 1 at their Grand Rapids and Detroit taprooms. Tickets for these events will go on sale Oct. 12 at this Founders page. Retail availability would follow. The suggested price for CBS is $25 per 750ml bottle.
By the way, the Far & Away festival will be bringing in a lot of brewers who aren't distributed in Chicago, while Munster Ale Fest features beers found only in Indiana. This is a weekend with a chance to sample dozens of new brewers!
