Chicago Craft Beer Events, January 2–4
The McHenry Brewing Co. name will return to the space now occupied by Chain O'Lakes Brewing. Label image from Tavern Trove.

I would think this is a dead week, as bars and tap rooms take it easy after New Year's and other holidays. But as it turns out, there is still Canadian Breakfast Stout going around.

Last Call at Chain O'Lakes: After four years of operation, Chain O'Lakes Brewing Company has been sold. Manager Curt Ames had been seeking a buyer for his brewery and was close to a deal with a company called Jimmybread, which would make artisan bread and beer at the site, but the financing fell through. Chain O'Lakes last day was December 30, with word on their Twitter feed to watch for a reopening as McHenry Brewing Co., the original name of the brewery that operated out of occupied COL's current building until the 1960s.
