I have published this calendar early so it's all set while I'm driving down south the 2017 Solar Eclipse, but it will be updated as I learn of more events.
I hope to hit St. Nicholas Brewing once we've set up our tent in DuQuoin, and then Monday watch from the eclipse party at Big Muddy in Murphysboro. I would like to have hit Scratch Brewing in Ava, but that's a side trip I'm not sure I can fit in, especially with traffic of "Woodstockian" proportions. Yes, I have a designated driver. I am still updating my list of events at beer spots in the path of totality.
I checked with the DuQuoin Fairgrounds, and they say they still have campsites for Sunday night. They'll have a band, and food & beer vendors Sunday night, and their own eclipse party Monday afternoon.
If you are going to be in the path of the eclipse, I suggest you bring a copy of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. Hit "Play" 41 minutes before the start of totality, and the song "Eclipse" will run the entire time the sun is covered!
And not to forget, this is the week that Sun King Brewery makes its debut on the Illinois side of the border. That's almost ironic, in a way.
