For the week of Wednesday's event at the Field Museum, the team-up of Sue the T-rex with Pseudo Sue from Decorah, Iowa's Toppling Goliath Brews, we have news that TG beers will be entering the Illinois (and Chicago) market through a distribution deal with Breakthru Beverage. According to TG's Facebook post, distribution will involve a limited supply of their flagship brews: Pseudo Sue APA, King Sue double IPA, Tsunami pale ale, Rover Truck stout and Golden Nugget IPA. In its short existence, Toppling Goliath has placed four beers on Ratebeer.com's Top 50 beer list. Those "whales" are three imperial stouts and a "Goliath" variant of King Sue, usually sold only at the brewery. But we'll definitely have them on our watch list for special keg tappings. The flagship beers are being co-brewed at the Brewhub contract facility in Florida.
Sierra Nevada has announced a recall of 12 oz. bottled beers made between Dec. 5, 2016, and Jan. 13, 2017 at their Mills River, North Carolina. Sierra Nevada has issued the recall over a packaging error that might leave glass shards in the bottles. The beers are distributed to 32 states in the eastern half of the U.S., including Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin (Fox 32).
