As I have said might happen, I have finally been offered a job! Now in the beer industry, although it may be for the best that I do not work around unlimited quantities. But it is a second shift job, and for the first few weeks I will be work half-days at my current contract assignment, to make up for some lost days. So there is a chance for a week or two with minimal to no updates. I will keep you posted!

Brewers conformed for the event: 18th Street Brewery, Against the Grain, Moody Tongue, Goose Island, Founders, Shiner, Local Option, Pipeworks, Bell’s, Virtue Cider, Urban Chestnut, Trumer Pils, BridgePort. Beer events will include a special beer release party on July 11, featuring:
Founders CBS Canadian Breakfast Stout: This beer is part of Founders' “backstage” limited release series. The Imperial Stout is brewed in barrels that first held bourbon, then held bourbon maple syrup, and finally CBS. It took the brewery 4 years to gather enough of these special barrels to make the beer and there were less than 20 kegs released to Chicago!
Goose Island's Vanilla Rye: This is a rerelease of an extremely popular brew from 2010. It is part of Goose Island’s Bourbon County Stout series, but instead of bourbon barrels it was brewed in rye barrels. Two types of vanilla beans, from Mexico and Madagascar, combined with the stout to create a rich, sweet flavor.
Local Option's Friend of Dorothy: This was brewed by Local Option at Pub Dog Brewing in Maryland and is a brand new blend, making its debut at Windy City Smokeout. This Saison was aged on oak and is tart and smoky, with a layer of complexity.
Against the Grain’s My Hammy Weiss: This brew takes the German Hefeweizen's fruity, banana notes and adds smoked malt for a smoky finish to make the perfect light and summery beer!
Moody Tongue’s Caramelized Chocolate Churro Baltic Porter: This brew tastes exactly like the name states! It has a dry, dark European sweetness.
Guests can sign up for the opportunity to learn BBQ tips and tricks straight from Myron Mixon, one of the foremost pitmasters in the country in a hands-on class with Myron. The festival will also host a special BBQ brunch on Sunday, hosted by Adam Richman of Travel Channel’s Man v. Food. For $70, festival goers can experience a brunch menu comprised of special dishes from each of the participating restaurants, plus signature BBQ sides paired with Bub City’s famous Bloody Mary Bar and mimosas.

11:00 am - 5:00 pm ♦ New Belgium Tour de Fat
Palmer Square, 3100 W. Palmer Square, Chicago
We're back in Chicago!
This year marks the 16th season for New Belgium's Tour de Fat, which will travel to 10 cities across the U.S. These day-long festivities are free in every city, but the proceeds from beer sales go to local non-profits.
Since its inception, Tour de Fat has raised more than $3 million, and raised half-a-million dollars last year alone. The events kick off with a costumed bicycle parade that winds through city streets, ending in a city park. That’s when eclectic entertainment takes over from musical acts to yo-yo performers, bike contests and even vaudeville acts. This year will also include some brewing education and feature a “Bicycle Revival” to inspire festival-goers to believe in the power of two-wheeled transportation. And once again, New Belgium is looking for a car-for-bike swapper – someone willing to swap his or her car keys for a $2,250 stipend to buy a dream bike and live car-free for a year.
Skip the parade lines and pre-register today to sign the parade waiver and donate to receive a limited edition 2015 Tour de Fat license plate, light or sunglasses.
