Stop Press! The drawing for a pair of tickets is closed, and the winner is Russ Fett! Congratulations!
December brings a first-time beer festival to our area, and this one brings with it lots of firsts!
Beer Fest Beat Down, this Saturday Dec. 13, is the first beer fest to be held at the Sears Center Arena in Hoffman Estates (map).
It's also the first festival, so far as I know, to include the thrills and excitement of Lucha Libre Wrestling in the price of admission!
First, the basics: Brought to you by El Santa Diabla, “Beers, Bites, and Beatdowns” rattles the walls of the 100,000 sq. ft. Sears Centre Arena, as the website says.
Tickets for General Admission (2:00 - 6:00 pm) are $35 and include a commemorative tasting glass and 25 beer samples. VIP Tickets, at $60, get you early access at 1:00 pm. Designated Driver tickets are $10. Each ticket grants full access to the festivities, featuring Lucha Libre wrestling, the cascading Beering-ham fountain, Santa’s Little Hoppers Workshop and specialty food items from some of the area’s best food trucks.
Brewers Represented: 51st Ward Brewing Co., Allagash, Angry Orchard, Arcade Brewing, Argus Brewery, Baderbräu, Blue Moon, Boston Beer Co., Boulevard, Church Street, Crispin Cider, Dark Horse, Dogfish Head, Emmett’s Brewing Co., Empirical Brewery, Lagunitas, Lakefront Brewery, Leinenkugel, Lucky Monk, Madmouse, New Belgium, New Holland, Oskar Blues, Penrose, Pig Minds, Revolution, Rogue, Scorched Earth, Sierra Nevada, Stone, Tighthead, Two Brothers, Urban Legend, Wisconsin Brewing Co., Woodchuck Cider.
These area food trucks will be in attendance to maximize your beer enjoyment: Toasty Cheese, Bridgeport Pasty, Pizza Via, Haute Sausage, PIKO Street Kitchen, Chicago Cupcake, Calle Wagon, and Gino’s Steak.
Lucha Libre Wrestling brings high-energy and high-flying excitement to El Santa Diabla’s Ring of Champions. Take a seat while you savor a new beer and enjoy the show as masked daredevils fight it out for the title of Beer Fest Beat Down King.
This event will also feature Santa’s Little Hoppers Workshop, where you can create that perfect holiday card for the beer lover in your life; complete with an on-site photographer, backdrop, beer themed props and a printing studio.
Centerpiece of the event is Beering-ham Fountain, filled with hundreds of gallons of cascading (expired) beer, for wishes, not drinking.
Your Chance for Free Admission
I have been granted a pair of General Admission tickets to give away to one (or two) of my readers. Just click this link to enter your name and email in a Google Form by Noon on Friday, December 12th. At that time, I'll hit the radomizer and pick out a winner, for whom El Santa Diabla himself will leave a pair at the box office!
