Chicago Craft Beer Events, November 3–6

Chicago Craft Beer Events, November 3–6
Don't these ads usually have a toucan?

I've had a couple personal notes, but this first: I am invited to take part in one of a series of holiday food demonstrations by Johanna M. Cook—known as "Momma Cuisine"—this Wednesday at the Jewel/Osco store on 20 Biesterfield, Elk Grove Village. This is one of four appearances she's doing at Jewel stores this week, preparing a Turducken, something I still haven't seen with my own eyes, not to mention gotten past that name. So as a guests, I shall apparently be Live-Tweeted about, which is a big deal because I tried Live-Tweeting, but it would have involved putting my beer down. Now the Facebook listing says she's there at 11 am to 1 pm, but I am scheduled to go "on the air" at 3 - 5 pm, so the first part must be a live demonstration. Further details as I figure this out. But meantime, I'm working out beer pairings for Turducken, and trying to think of a wine label beyond simply Zinfandel.

Sam Adams Kosmic Mother Funk Tour
This week, Samuel Adams is bringing its small batch Kosmic Mother Funk Grand Cru to Chicago. Kosmic Mother Funk is the base beer of Samuel Adams Barrel Room collection, a unique Belgian ale, aged in Hungarian oak tuns for over a year and fermented with multiple micro-organisms found in the environment of Sam Adams' Boston brewery. One batch was made into a Grand Cru with a touch of Belgian candi sugar, added to balance the beer’s tart acidity after two years of aging.
