Chicago Craft Beer Events, October 3–5

Chicago Craft Beer Events, October 3–5
So many beer festivals this weekend!

Hey, I thought things would be quiet this weekend because all the brewers would out attending, judging or pouring at the Great American Beer Festival. Instead, there's a lot to do for those of us who are left behind.

Friday, October 3

Half Acre Sticky Fat Release
Half Acre Beer Co., 4257 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago (773) 248-4038
Once a year, cones grow plump, the yard boss readies his men, and brewers across the country await their delivery of whole cone, wet hops. At the same time, the farmers that make our sticky dreams possible, sharpen their stakes against the historic foe - a bear we've come to know as Sticky Fat.
We brew a beer in honor of this giant, to keep his story fresh. This year we brewed with 300 pounds of Chinook hops, soaking wet and straight from our northern friends in Michigan. Sticky Fat American Dark Ale is brown as the bear's hind quarters, and laced with piney, resinous hop character, backed up by plunging levels of chocolate and roast. Swing by and tip one back, a toast to all the things that keep us on our toes. 22 ounce bottle: $8.99, 64 ounce growler refill: $18, 32 ounce howler refill: $10, 16 ounce pour: $6

Warsteiner has played a huge part in the history of The Bavarian Lodge, and it's time we threw a party to welcome it back to its true Chicagoland home.
The folks from Warsteiner will be here to celebrate by hoisting a stein with us and handing out fun Warsteiner trinkets to those that attend and raise a glass with us!
Of course, what's a German party without a pig roast! We'll be serving our roast suckling pig roast all night long...Tender, juicy, well-marbled, young suckling pig, roasted whole in our oven and carved to order - served in the traditional Bavarian fashion with the skin-on. With pan gravy, caraway boiled potatoes, and homemade sauerkraut. Pair this fantastic meal with any of these fantastic Warsteiner draft and cask offerings...
