Chicago Craft Beer Events, August 25—28

Chicago Craft Beer Events, August 25—28
Original Sin Cider again hosts a Pin-Up competition for a chance see more of this.

It's pretty definite that after Labor Day, I will need to take a little hiatus from this column. The main reason being that I have an idea for a book about craft beer culture, I have an acquisitions editor who's been waiting to see my proposal since April, and I have no time to do the proposal. I will still post the occasional feature as I have many on my backlog, and will probably be posting calendar articles again before I know it. In the meantime, I will post events that I hear about to my Google Calendar, which you can link to at the appropriate button above, and which I need to edit to say that it is working again fine. You can also keep up with events through the Beeronaut Facebook page, now with over 400 likes!

Refresher: a brilliant evening full of food + Orval + Pappy = moment of clarity for John Barley of Solemn Oath who shouted something to the effect of, “Why don’t we just throw events like this?” And there you have it - the basis for the Neighborhood Party was born: great beer, food and a lot of friends in one awesome neighborhood over the course of an evening.
So come hang. You won’t regret it.

Sublime Ginger: a wheat ale with ginger, key lime, honeybush and lemon myrtle,
Forbidden Root: an oak-aged beer with natural flavors and molasses, and
Shady Character: a porter with black walnuts, roasted chestnuts and licorice.
Before the three pairing stations begin serving, guests will be greeted with a craft brew from another of Chicago’s rising star breweries, Illuminated Brew Works, which is based in the West Loop. IBW will serve their Orange Sunshine, an American Citrus Saison with a wine-dry, crisp body and delicate citrus notes.
