Just a quick note to the effect that we have yet another brewer in town: Marz Community Brewing is a communal group related to the Lumpen arts group and Maria's Community Bar. Their beers have been starting to appear arts events around the Bridgeport area.

At this event, Barley’s Angels will explore some of the beer collaborations created by executive chef Cleetus Friedman. Fountainhead’s experts will take guests through the journey of chef/brewer collaborations from picking a style to perfecting the brews. In addition to the collaboration beers, Fountainhead will also pour a couple unique ciders to give attendees a preview of the next venture from the Fountainhead team—The Northman, Chicago’s first bar dedicated to cider. Ladies who love beer can join other Angels on Fountainhead’s rooftop on Monday, July 21st, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Complete with snacks and, of course, lots of tasty brews

Howells & Hood invites locals to enjoy a ‘Midsummer BBQ’ Cider Dinner where Executive Chef Scott Walton grills gourmet summer dishes paired with the latest ciders from renowned breweries. Brewery representatives from Original Sin Hard Cider, Vander Mill Ciders, Wyder’s Hard Cider, Wandering Aengus Ciderworks, Woodchuck Hard Cider, and J.K.‘s Scrumpy are on-hand to teach guests about the making of each cider and proper foods to pair. To kick off the festivities, a featured firkin tapping presentation takes place at 6:30 p.m. with a special keg of Vander Mill’s Michigan Wit cider. A firkin tapping is a one-of-a-kind presentation showcasing a brew that has not been cold-filtered, pasteurized, and carbonated by outside equipment.
Mix and mingle with Chef Walton as he grills savory summer dishes on the patio. The welcome reception in the East Banquet Room and adjacent patio space at Howells & Hood begins with passed appetizers and 6-ounce tasting portions of paired cider, along with firkin tapping. While each tasting portion is offered, brewery representatives will educate guests about all-things cider. The reception is followed by a family-style, two-course menu (including dessert).
