Chicago Craft Beer Week & Other Events for Friday, May 23
From the "Retro Soul Geek" Tumblr: http://retrosoulgeek.tumblr.com/

I was utterly daunted by the task of keeping up with all, or even some, of the Chicago Craft Beer Week events out there. Partly because when I started doing this blog, I didn't really have a job. Now I do, and it takes away from time to spend on this. That means I miss out on connecting with my beer-loving friends (and the occasional click on those ads). But now that there's light at the end of the tunnel, I'm going to break down the memorial Day weekend one day at a time! As always, I will try to feature new, small local brewers, but I always have room for Bourbon County Stout pourings.

The Tap House Grill Lemont, 1243 S State St., Ste 109, Lemont, IL 630-257-5992
This event is the world debut of the beers of Lemont's new Pollyanna Brewery. Representatives from Pollyanna will be here both nights to sample their beers and talk about the brewery.
Imperial Black Saison (Collaboration with Ten Ninety) 10.1% abv, 40 SRM, 50 IBU. A saison just like our friends at Ten Ninety like it…BIG. This beer is brewed with an assortment of highly-kilned and black roasted malts to accent a subtle hop spiciness and the unique fruitiness of Chicago's own, Omega Yeast Labs, proprietary Saison yeast strain. This is a farmhouse ale with an urban approach.
Avidity IPA 7.4% abv, 8 SRM, 75 IBU. With ardent desire comes painstaking patience. The first beer we'll ever release represents the extreme eagerness, enthusiasm, and balance that must be maintained while sorting through construction timelines, attorney fees, and hop contracts. This balanced IPA bursts forward with a blend of juicy citruses, tropical fruits, and pine resins from five different hops, including Galaxy and Simcoe. A sturdy malt backbone keeps the plethora of Australian and American hops in balance. Did we say "balance" enough

5:00 pm ♦ Pork and Porter Pints
Atlas Brewing Company, 2747 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago 773-295-1270
We'll be celebrating the release of Invincible Armor Porter by roasting whole pigs on Friday. $14 will get you a pint of porter, and pile of pork and tasty sides. This deal will be available when we open at 5pm until we run out of pig.

7:00 pm ♦ Goose Island is Still Craft Beer!
Paddy Long's Irish Pub, 1028 W. Diversey Ave., Chicago (773) 290-6988
Don't think Goose Island still qualifies as craft beer? Well you're wrong and we'll prove it. Paddy Long's will be pouring BCS 2012, BCS Barleywine, Madame Rose, and 2 More Weeks. If you put some of this hand crafted liquid in your mouth and still think Goose Island isn't making craft beer, well.... we can't fix stupid.

A truly unique experience usually offered to only professional brewers, Nunzino will bring education and his expertise to the public. Hops have both aromatic qualities and bitterness qualities. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience both sensations, as well as sample craft beers from BuckleDown Brewing. Owners Ike Orcutt and Sean Mahoney will also be present for any questions regarding the hop rub and brewing processes, and attendees will receive a Chicago Craft Beer Week T-shirt.
