I thought I was going to keep updating the local brewer events for Chicago Craft Beer Week, but Friday night I was plumb exhausted and slept for ten hours. Saturday I was digging through old DVD backups to find the original files my old homebrew labels as requested by an author. So let's start over with this weeks events, whether for CCBW or not:

Monday, May 19

6:30 pm ♦ Haymarket’s 4th Annual Illinois Brewer’s Night

It’s an Illinois tap takeover. Brewers from around the state will be coming in for a night of revelry! Each brewery is bringing one keg and a case of pint glasses to give away! Tickets are $25 each which includes 12 tasting tickets, and are still available at Brown Paper Tickets. Brewers represented: pretty much everyone.

7:00 pm ♦ American Craft Beer Tasting with Hopleaf's Michael Roper
The Chopping Block, 222 Merchandise Mart Plaza Suite 107 Chicago
In celebration of Craft Beer Week, Hopleaf's beer expert Michael Roper will teach guests about important and influential moments in American craft beer history. Samples include Anchor Steam and Liberty Ale, Goose Island Bourbon County,  and much more.

Join Illuminated Brew Works & the Local Option Bierwerkers for the first ever IBW Movie Night at the Local Option! We'll be tapping a keg of Orange Sunshine, our American Citrus Saison, and watching the greatest movie ever put to film, Stuart Gordon's "From Beyond" To help fully savor all the trans-dimensional depravity of this Sci-Fi masterpiece, we'll be rolling out Hellzapoppin', the world's only flaming popcorn machine. Additionally, we'll be giving away Illuminated Brew Works t-shirts, glasses and stickers through out the evening. The BuckleDown guys write: "I'm not sure how punk rock craft beer is, but I can tell you from experience that they match up perfectly. In fact, our beer yeast was raised on punk rock... they probably have little mohawks and anarchy tattoos.
So as Chicago Craft Beer Week rolls through the middle of May, we thought we'd bring two of our favorite things together.

6:00 pm ♦ 2014 Northwest Side Craft Beer Ride5/22
$20 plus fee at Brown Paper Tickets.
Come celebrate Chicago Craft Beer Week on the Northwest Side by attending the 2nd annual craft beer pub crawl. 11 local breweries will be featured at 9 unique bars all connected by a regular bus loop to ensure comfort and safety. Participants will ride around on board a comfy Chicago Brew Bus as they are shuttled from bar to bar. Brewery staff will welcome the pub crawlers at each of the featured bars and will be on hand to talk up the beer, share a few, and hang out. The cost is $20 and covers transportation, good times, and a souvenir memento. Beers are purchased at each bar.

Simply show up to one of the featured bars after 6pm May 22rd. When the bus arrives, simply get on. Keep your ticket handy because you will need to show it at the bus in order to get your wristband and momento. At the end of the pub crawl, there will be an announcement for the last bus. Buses with a bar listed on its pacard will make their final stop there- (you'll figure it out) The featured bars and addresses are below.
