Howells & Hood is proud to host the "Craft Beer Revolution" panel. Hear from Brooklyn Brewery co-founder Steve Hindy, as he looks back with his fellow craft beer brewers including Michael Kiser (of Good Beer Hunting), Tracy Hurst (founder of Metropolitan Brewing), John Hall (founder of Goose Island) and Kevin Cary (founder of Begyle Brewing) to discuss the circumstances and ambitions that allowed a handful of individuals across the country to challenge one of the largest corporate dynasties in American history. They’ll also look ahead to the future of good beer and talk about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for American craft beer.

This event is part of The second annual Brooklyn Brewery Mash in Chicago, April 26 – May 3, to celebrate what’s next in food, film, comedy, music, books and beer. The Mash tour is America’s largest traveling food, beer and arts festival, stopping in ten US cities as well as London and Stockholm in 2014. Brooklyn Brewery has collaborated with Chicago chefs, artists and craft brewers to create one-of-a-kind entertainment experiences for the whole community to enjoy.

Upland Sours Release Lottery

Upland Brewing Company will open an online lottery for the release of three of its sour ales: Persimmon and Peach fruited Lambic-style ales, and Darksynth, an Upland and New Belgium collaboration sour. Bottles will be limited to one bottle per style per winner.
The lottery will open at noon EDT on Tuesday April 29th at this Eventbrite link, and close at noon May 7th. Either the Brew Pub in Bloomington or the Indianapolis Tasting Room in Broad Ripple must be specified as the preferred pick-up location at the time of entry, and pick-up locations cannot be changed after a reservation request has been made.
Lottery winners will be randomly drawn and notified via email on May 9th, and can purchase the sour ale(s) they selected at their preferred pickup location from May 14th through May 28th. People who wish to attend Sour Fest May 17th and pick up their bottle(s) in one trip should choose Indianapolis as their pickup location and plan to pick up at the Indianapolis Tasting Room. People who wish to take a sour brewery tour, offered May 24th at 3 and 4pm, and May 25th at 3, 4, 5, and 6pm, should choose Bloomington as their pickup location. Reservations will be required for tours and can be made by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Each bottle will cost $25 plus applicable sales tax.

Our April 30 releases are Crystal Hero, crisp and refreshing IPA exploding with Crystal hop flavor, and Maibock; it's (nearly) May, it's time to do a maibock.
Crystal Hero is available on draft at the brewpub and tap room, as well as in 22-ounce bombers available for purchase at the tap room and retailers. Maibock is available on draft only at the brewpub and tap room.

Howells & Hood highlights renowned California-based brewer Lagunitas, as they plan to open their brewery and taproom in Chicago this May. This special dining event, prepared by Executive Chef Scott Walton and his culinary team, features signature American-inspired dishes, each expertly paired with a selection from Lagunitas.

Chouffe Fest 2014 is kicking off in the Midwest mecca - Chicago! The Chouffe family of Belgian craft beers: La Chouffe Blond Ale, Mc Chouffe Belgo-Scottish Ale, & Houblon Chouffe IPA Tripel, will be on tap and at the forefront of this larger than gnome-sized event.
Beer (and gnome) lovers will taste Chouffe's magical Belgian brews, sample delicious eats from Wagyu Wagon and dance along to infectious tunes from Black Bear Combo for an unforgettable night of gnome-i-fied merrymaking.
Legend has it that magical gnomes are responsible for Chouffe’s delicious brews, which include a Belgian blonde, a Belgian Scottish-Blonde and a Belgian IPA Triple.
Chouffe Fest celebrates the beloved brewery's mystical heritage by making guests feel like the pint-sized creatures with giant props, Jenga — even a gnome throne for hilarious pics. Stop-animation gnomes will parachute off the Sears Tower and Field Museum of Natural History.
Tickets are $10 for beer tastings and food samples, and can be purchased through the Chouffe Fest website.
