My apologies for skipping the calendar for last weekend. I was until 2 am most of last week banging out my paper of Beer Culture for the PCA/ACA conference at the Marriott Mag Mile. I was up in a room filled to capacity (50 people) from 3 - 8 pm. The brewers from BrickStone were at the Lobby Bar to sample out the wares, and I didn't even get a chance to come down; soon as we wrapped up, a bunch of us academics got on the Chicago Brew Bus and hit the pubs. A dozen thirsty badasses with master's and doctorates tearing down Lincoln Avenue! One of the Chicago natives and I schooled our visiting scholars on what's most important to know in Chicago: Svengoolie, Jewel's butter cream frosting, and you will be ragged on for putting catsup on your hot dog. I'll talk more about that later, and try to make up for missing a weekend with some tickets to events coming up. No, not Dark Lord Day, I'm afraid.
