Greg Browne, brewmaster at Mickey Finn's Brewery in Libertyville, IL, is our guide. Study several beers and learn exactly what you're tasting and the roles that the ingredients and the brewing process have in forming those aromas and flavors. Enjoy fine beer, good company and expert tutelage. Tickets go on sale today at 7 p.m. for the next class, to be held December 7, 4 p.m. (Note the longer lead time this month). Topic: Holiday beers. Limit, 45 people. Price, $25 per person. Cash only, maximum 2 tickets per purchase, and first come-first serve until all tickets have been sold. You must have a ticket to attend Beer School. Sorry, no exceptions.

Weather Mark Tavern and Great Lakes Brewing Co. remember the tragic loss of the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald, the American Great Lakes freighter that sank in a Lake Superior and the inspiration for the company's Edmund Fitzgerald Porter.
Guests can meet Great Lakes Brewing Co. owner, Patrick Conway, who will be attending the event. The restaurant will offer $5 drafts of Edmund Fitzgerald Porter in anniversary pint glasses, Great Lakes Brewing Co. giveaways (while supplies last) and a selection of other Great Lakes Brewing Company beers.

Join us and Solemn Oath as we release the latest Collaborative effort with Chef Cleetus: ChocoTsuris! A take on Black Forest and German chocolate cake with a glass of milk. Mick Klug tart cherries, toasted coconut, coconut water, and milk sugar added to the brew. Cocoa nibs added to the fermenter. Big, full-flavored, full-bodied, and complex, with layers of roasty and fruity goodness from the aroma all the way through to the finish.

The Brewprints runs October 19 through November 20 on Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. and on Saturdays at 4:00 p.m.
