A new brewer's first beer gets tapping this week!

Just going to slap a whole week's worth of what I've got here for you:

Half Acre/New Belgium 2023m2 Release
Half Acre Beer Co., 4257 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago (773) 248-4038
"In the late 90's before getting this brewery going, Matt and I lived out in Colorado. Being a kid, running around the mountains and the towns that sit in them was good, rowdy fun. At that time, New Belgium Brewing Co was digging in and making themselves a big part of the craft brewing movement in this country. For me, Fat Tire and Sunshine Wheat were beers that were synonymous with life in Colorado and outside culture, but hadn't yet spanned the greater market. Today New Belgium's beers have become part of the national landscape and represent what's possible when good people make their own keys to the castle.
It's with great pleasure that we collaborate with New Belgium Brewing Co on two beers. Each beer is motivated by the visiting brewery. So we brewed a beer driven by New Belgium here at Half Acre. Early next month we fly to Colorado to brew a Half Acre inspired beer at New Belgium.
The first, 2023m2, brewed at Half Acre last month, is a soft sour ale that features the delicate complexity of a well designed New Belgium beer. A partial kettle souring process and light use of Maresh and Sumac all lend an equal hand in delivering a full experience. The numerical name ties into the area measurement of an actual Half Acre. Our hope, though, is to again brew together in the year 2023 and send that beer to the first group of people living on Mars.
This project is underway and if all goes well, some wild folks will be living on the red planet. They're going to need some beer: 6% ABV. 64 oz. growler refill: $16*, 32 oz. growler refill: $9*, 16 oz. draft: $5, 22 oz. bottle: $8.99 (limit 3).
*limited to 64 ounces of growler beer total per person

6:00 - 9:00 pm ♦ Brettanomyces & the Pine Tar Incident
Jerry's - Wicker Park, 1938 W. Division St., Chicago (773) 235-1006
On July 24, 1983, George Brett hammered a Goose Gossage fastball into the right field seats at Yankee Stadium, giving the Kansas City Royals a 5-4 ninth inning lead over the New York Yankees. It was a thrilling moment for any baseball fan lucky enough to witness this match-up between the two Hall of Fame players.
But it was a moment that would have eventually faded away from baseball’s collective memory, had Yankees manager Billy Martin not walked out of the dugout and asked for George Brett’s bat. What followed was a 25 day long saga involving two baseball teams, six umpires, one obscure MLB rule, a crafty baseball manager, a colossal meltdown from Brett, American League president Lee McPhail, Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, and two judges from the State Supreme Court of New York. A saga known forever as The Pine Tar Incident.
This July 24, Jerry’s will celebrate the 30th anniversary of bizarre event with five of our favorite beers brewed with brettanomyces, a funky yeast strain colloquially known as Brett. Brett yeast strains produce a range of flavors as varied and colorful as the personalities involved in The Pine Tar Incident, and we’ve got a stacked line-up of Brett beers to celebrate that diversity. And as a nod to the pine tar itself, we’ll tap a couple of our favorite piney IPAs as well. So bring your favorite ball cap and we’ll bring the beer. Play Ball!
Brett: Boulevard Saison-Brett, Lost Abbey 10 Commandments, Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza, Prairie Artisan Prairie Hop, Perennial Aria
Pine: Ska Modus Hoperandi, Great Divide Hercules

The Weathermark Tavern, 1503 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago (312) 588-0230
"Red skies in the morning, Sailor's Warning."
"Red skies at night, Sailor's Delight."
Please join us at Weathermark Tavern in Chicago's South Loop to celebrate the release of "Sailor's Warning" & "Sailor's Delight," a two-beer collaboration between Lake Effect Brewing Company and South Loop Brewing Company. The recipe, constructed as an Imperial Red Ale, was mashed as one and then split into two separate beers. "Sailor's Warning," a ruby-red, 8.3% ABV hoppy imperial came first. Next, came "Sailor's Delight," a sessionable (5.1% ABV) red ale refresher with a hint of vanilla bean.
Same malt-backbone, two different beers. Sailor or not, we think you'll enjoy both.
