Chicago Craft Beer Events, June 3 - 6

Things are a little light this week, what with management and staff still recovering from Chicago Craft Beer Week. So after the few events I've been able to glean, I have a list of upcoming events that you may want to plan ahead for.

Wednesday, June 5

We're VERY excited to announce that we're again hosting this incredible benefit for The Wildcat Sanctuary in Minnesota. The Wildcat Sanctuary is a non-profit, no-kill facility providing safe, natural and humane sanctuary to wild cats in need & actively involved in ending the private ownership of exotic animals. Last year, with your generous help, we raised over $5000 -- let's try and double that this year!
We’ll be tapping rare beers from the best breweries in the world and we'll again have amazing raffle prizes donated from some of the best artists & shops in the city!
This year's print is being created by Chicago's own amazing Tony Fitzpatrick.

Experience a unique mix of beers and artisan spirits from New Holland Brewing Company, paired with a menu created by the executive chefs at The Bank.
This four-course dinner will feature pairings with New Holland Dragon's Milk, Mad Hatter, Imperial Hatter, Monkey King and White Hatter. Guests can also enjoy signature cocktails made with New Holland's Beer Barrel Bourbon, Hatter Royale Hopped Whiskey, and Knickerbocker Gin.
Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased at the restaurant.or by phone. The dinner will include prizes and giveaways, featuring a chance to win a VIP tour of New Holland Brewing Co.

Come celebrate the end of the school year and the start of Summer at the Lake Bluff Brewing Company, in the taproom and street side! We are closing off Scranton Avenue between Sheridan & Walnut to make way for two live music acts, Happy Ashtray and Neighbor Dater. We will also be releasing 2 LIMITED RUN BEERS: Cocoa-Nibbed Black Squirrel Bourbon Stout and Peached Dog Days Hefeweizen. These specialties probably won't even last the night, don't miss 'em!

Saturday, June 8

Co-sponsored by FIZZ and Map Room. The 3rd Annual CDA event will feature unlimited draft samples from more than 40 of the best craft brewers in the country, a souvenir glass, and passed appetizers. Proceeds once again benefit the Hamilton Elementary School. Last year the event raised almost $10,000 for Hamilton, so bring your friends and let's surpass that total this year! Tickets are $50 each, and are now on sale at Brown Paper Tickets.

1:00 - 5:00 pm ♦ 2nd Annual Mundelein Craft Beer Festival

Mundelein Community Connections and Tighthead Brewing Company will be holding the 2nd Annual Mundelein Craft Beer Festival. Advance tickets will be $35 and day of the event tickets $40. The festival will be held in the parking lot of Tighthead Brewing Company which shares its lot with the Metra Train Station in downtown Mundelein.
This year's Mundelein Craft Beer Fesitval is bigger and better than last year:

  • Covered seating for comfort rain or shine
  • Lots of new brewers and the return of many from 2012.
  • Live Music from Samadhi Vibe and Private Drive
  • Food for purchase from local vendors - Lauretta's, Luke's of Mundelein, and the Raging Kitchen food truck

Tickets will get you admission to the festival, a souvenier tasting glass, samples from 25 - 30 breweries and live music. Food will be available for purchase from local restuarant vendors and designated driver tickets are avaialable as well.

Non-Drinker / Designated driver ticket includes a commemorative pint glass and free water Brew Bus Ticket - - AVAILABLE SOON - - The Brew Bus will transport people from the Libertyville Train Station to the event and back. A Brew Bus ticket must be purchased in advance and an event ticket is also required. - The bus will pick up at the train station from Noon - 1:30PM and will return riders between 4:30and 6:00PM

3:00 pm - 12:00 am ♦ Hatter Day Celebration at New Holland

(What this is referring to, of course, is the release of New Holland's Mad Hatter series of IPA's, which will also be on our shelf in 22 oz. bomber bottles).
It's that time of year again! Hatter Day is upon us and that means:

  • Daredevil Circus
  • Highjinx and Hilarity

Street party takes place on College (between 8th and 9th streets). Plus, our new Beer Garden will be open and ready for you to enjoy! Join us in a celebration of the entire Hatter Family and remember...We're All a Little Mad Here.

Sunday is Free Family Fun Day and no tickets are required! This event supports Make-A Wish Foundation and Mutual Ground charities!

2:00 - 6:00 pm ♦ Mash Tun Festival: The Invitational
Bridgeport Art Center Atrium, 1200 W. 35th St., Chicago
Now in its third edition, the Mash Tun Festival is a celebration of the release of Mash Tun: A Craft Beer Journal issue #3. The Mash Tun is a publication put out by your buddies at Maria’s Packaged Goods & Community Bar and The Public Media Institute, a non profit arts and culture organization based in Bridgeport. Mash Tun is our paean to craft beer. It follows the pleasures and aesthetics of craft beer and how it intersects with food, culture, and society.
The festival features over two dozen of the world’s best breweries. Flagship and rare beers will be poured alongside one-of-a-kind concoctions at the stunning Bridgeport Art Center at 35th and Racine. The festival will be held in the 19th century atrium and the Center’s lovely sculpture garden. Local chefs and food trucks will be vending. Craft spirits and wineries will also be sampling their wares and you will help decide which brewery will win an award for making the best beer.

We are hosting an awards ceremony this year and will be giving out awards to brewers that make the best liquid in these categories:
Hopped and Confused
The Bold and Beautiful
Every Day is Like Sunday
WTF Is This

The Mash Tun is a private RSVP only event. By purchasing admission to Mash Tun Festival: The Invitational you will become a member of the Mash Tun Society, a craft beer and food club that presents programming throughout the year. Admission includes a copy of Mash Tun Journal, issue #3, a one year membership in The Mash Tun Society, and a tasting glass. You must be 21 years and/or older to attend.

Saturday, June 29

1:00 - 8:00 pm ♦ SOLIDARITY :: OUTBOUND

OUTBOUND is the fourth installment of the Solidarity event series. Featuring over 20 breweries and 45+ beers to choose from, this event will be the biggest yet. OUTBOUND will feature some new breweries and give you the chance to try some of the best craft beers on the market. Have questions or want to know more about the beer or brewery? Brewery reps will be in attendance to answer any questions you have.
There will be 2 afternoon sessions, the first from 1-4 PM and the second from 5-8 PM. Each session will have core and different specialty beers unique to that session.
Tickets are $45 per session through Brown Paper Tickets and include Commemorative Glass, Ten 4 oz taster tickets of hardcore craft beer (Additional samples may be purchased), food, and a Brewery swag bag

An outstanding line-up of Chicago-area chefs will each create one dish showcasing their imaginative beer and food pairing skills. The dishes, all paired with Ommegang ales, will be served to a panel of judges, and to all attendees, to taste and score. As it all goes down, great beer will partner with great food to help out a great cause. A portion of proceeds from Hop Chef Chicago will benefit Common Threads. Presented by Brewery Ommegang and Saveur Magazine
