Things are a little light this week, what with management and staff still recovering from Chicago Craft Beer Week. So after the few events I've been able to glean, I have a list of upcoming events that you may want to plan ahead for.

We're VERY excited to announce that we're again hosting this incredible benefit for The Wildcat Sanctuary in Minnesota. The Wildcat Sanctuary is a non-profit, no-kill facility providing safe, natural and humane sanctuary to wild cats in need & actively involved in ending the private ownership of exotic animals. Last year, with your generous help, we raised over $5000 -- let's try and double that this year!

Co-sponsored by FIZZ and Map Room. The 3rd Annual CDA event will feature unlimited draft samples from more than 40 of the best craft brewers in the country, a souvenir glass, and passed appetizers. Proceeds once again benefit the Hamilton Elementary School. Last year the event raised almost $10,000 for Hamilton, so bring your friends and let's surpass that total this year! Tickets are $50 each, and are now on sale at Brown Paper Tickets.

Mundelein Community Connections and Tighthead Brewing Company will be holding the 2nd Annual Mundelein Craft Beer Festival. Advance tickets will be $35 and day of the event tickets $40. The festival will be held in the parking lot of Tighthead Brewing Company which shares its lot with the Metra Train Station in downtown Mundelein.
This year's Mundelein Craft Beer Fesitval is bigger and better than last year:
- Covered seating for comfort rain or shine
- Lots of new brewers and the return of many from 2012.
- Live Music from Samadhi Vibe and Private Drive
- Food for purchase from local vendors - Lauretta's, Luke's of Mundelein, and the Raging Kitchen food truck

Now in its third edition, the Mash Tun Festival is a celebration of the release of Mash Tun: A Craft Beer Journal issue #3. The Mash Tun is a publication put out by your buddies at Maria’s Packaged Goods & Community Bar and The Public Media Institute, a non profit arts and culture organization based in Bridgeport. Mash Tun is our paean to craft beer. It follows the pleasures and aesthetics of craft beer and how it intersects with food, culture, and society.
The festival features over two dozen of the world’s best breweries. Flagship and rare beers will be poured alongside one-of-a-kind concoctions at the stunning Bridgeport Art Center at 35th and Racine. The festival will be held in the 19th century atrium and the Center’s lovely sculpture garden. Local chefs and food trucks will be vending. Craft spirits and wineries will also be sampling their wares and you will help decide which brewery will win an award for making the best beer.
We are hosting an awards ceremony this year and will be giving out awards to brewers that make the best liquid in these categories:

OUTBOUND is the fourth installment of the Solidarity event series. Featuring over 20 breweries and 45+ beers to choose from, this event will be the biggest yet. OUTBOUND will feature some new breweries and give you the chance to try some of the best craft beers on the market. Have questions or want to know more about the beer or brewery? Brewery reps will be in attendance to answer any questions you have.
There will be 2 afternoon sessions, the first from 1-4 PM and the second from 5-8 PM. Each session will have core and different specialty beers unique to that session.

An outstanding line-up of Chicago-area chefs will each create one dish showcasing their imaginative beer and food pairing skills. The dishes, all paired with Ommegang ales, will be served to a panel of judges, and to all attendees, to taste and score. As it all goes down, great beer will partner with great food to help out a great cause. A portion of proceeds from Hop Chef Chicago will benefit Common Threads. Presented by Brewery Ommegang and Saveur Magazine
