The folks at 3 Floyds have tantalized us with updated graphics and an announced date of Saturday, April 27, for Dark Lord Day. Now they've finally released information on when tickets will go on sale.
Admission tickets for your allotment of Dark Lord Russian Imperial Stout will go on sale during St. Patrick's Day for the second year in a row: Sunday, March 17th, at 12:00 noon, central time.
Among the new information for this year:
- Tickets will cost $30 just for admission to the Three Floyds property in Munster, IN, and will allow you to buy a set number of Dark Lord bottles. The number allowed and cost is usually determined closer to the event, after bottling. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to charities chosen by 3 Floyds.
- Tickets will be printed with the names of the purchasers, who will be required to show IDs at the gate, to discourage reselling and trading.
- There are now five timed admission, up from last year's three. Ticket buyers will need to choose a time that they want to be admitted in two-hour chunks, starting with 10 a.m. to 12 noon, and continuing starting at 12:00, 2:00, 4:00 and 6:00 p.m.
- "No coolers, no furniture, no pets." Apparently, the festival atmosphere that has filled the industrial park around Floyds has gotten harder to keep control.
There is no word yet on whether any special editions of Dark Lord will be made available, as there were last year. The 2012 DLD also saw a live band, and beer sales outside the building by 3 Floyds, and other area brewers. Here's a look at the corwds when I last attended DLD in 2011:
Be prepared to start hitting the keyboard immediately when ticket sales open. Previous DLD's have sold out within seconds, or as fast as the ticket sellers' servers could handle the traffic.
Dark Lord Day will take place at the Three Floyds brewery and pub, 9750 Indiana Pkwy, Munster, Indiana.
