Chicago Beer and Valentine's Events for Feb. 14

Chicago Beer and Valentine's Events for Feb. 14
A little heart in the head of a cask stout.

It occurs to me that Valentine's Day this year falls during Lent. At least it's not right on Ash Wednesday like it will be in 2018. But if you want to be particularly observant (or cheap), you can claim to your date you want to do as the Monks did during Lent: abstaining from everything but beer!

The Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., Chicago (773) 276-3600
Revolution will be at this party for the release of Zanate Mole Stout, the Ten Year Anniversary beer that brewed with and for their staff. Some of you may or may not know that our founder and owner, Josh Deth, was also one of the original founders and owners of this favorite local spot. There will be many bands and many beers to help you either celebrate or forget that it's Valentine's Day. Come party with Rev and the Handlebar! Admission is free with RSVP or $8 at the door. The fine folks of Handlebar have decided to close their beloved restaurant for the night and bring their wealth of talent to our stage to help celebrate their Ten Year Anniversary. All of the bands on the bill work at Handlebar in some capacity, and we're honored to have them play our stage. For full information on the bands, check this link.

8:00 pm ♦ Barley's Angels Valentine Dinner at Local Option
Local Option, 1102 W. Webster Ave., Chicago (773) 348-2008
Going out on Valentine's Day is the worst. If you're part of a pair, romantic notions are quickly reduced to lamenting an overpriced menu, an overbooked restaurant, and uninspired service. And if you're single? Forget about going out. Who wants to deal with all that crap alone? Enter a solution: The Barley's Angels Chicago and ManBQue Valentine's Day mixer at Local Option! Guests will be treated to a three-course Valentine's Day fest of meaty ManBQue food, and four 4 oz. pours from the ever-changing, often rare, and always wonderful taps at Local Option, selected by the Barley's Angels crew. Married guests, singles, and couples are all invited, and unlike other Barley's Angels and ManBQue meetings, this event is open to all genders. This is for the romantics, the unconventionals, and even the Valentine's Day haters among us. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased here.
Here's the menu: Course One: Grilled beef heart crostinis, topped with a smoky, raspberry Framboise sauce.
Course Two: Duo of beer-braised pork belly, one sweet and one spicy. Served with a side of greens lightly dressed with hops vinaigrette.
Course Three: Chocolate torte with bacon-studded chocolate crust and boozy cherries.
Provisions for gluten-intolerant or vegetarian guests will not be made for this event, but we will include you in upcoming opportunities.
