Chicago Craft Beer Weekend Events: January 11-13

While the Deschutes opening week in Chicago is in full swing, we have some other craft beer events you won't want to miss:

Friday, Jan. 11

Half Acre Tomten Release
Half Acre Beer Co., 4257 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago (773) 248-4038
The staff here at Half Acre Beer Company was tasked with creating a beer that we’d all like to drink. Many different styles, names, and label concepts were pitched, but the one that stuck was Tomten. A fruity aroma atop a sweet 6.5% ABV amber base, Tomten suits an evening of staring at the stars over top a snow covered landscape, farm or city. Tomten will be released on Friday, January 11th in both bottle and growler form. Bottles of Tomten will run you $8.99 each, $15 for a 64 ounce growler, $9 for a 32 ounce growler (+4 for a new jar). We’ll also have a firkin of Tomten with cardamom pouring in the tap room on release day.

5:00 - 8:00 pm ♦ Firkin Friday: Greene King Abbot Ale
The Bavarian Lodge, 1800 Ogden Ave, Lisle, IL (630) 241-4701
This week, from Gravity-Fed Firkin: Greene King Abbot Ale (5% ABV). This irresistible English ale has masses of fruit character, a malty richness and superb hop balance. It is brewed longer to a unique recipe. Brewing history in the home of Abbot, Bury St Edmunds, can be traced back almost a thousand years, and is considered by some to be the birthplace of "real ale". This special cask will be tapped around 5:00 pm, and will be available to bar patrons and dining rooms guests alike. Available on a first come, first served basis, of course. Firkin Will Be Tapped Between 5 & 6 PM. No RSVP Required. No Entrance Fee. Facebook Event Page.
