Chicago Craft Beer Events, January 14 - 17

Deschutes wraps up its big introduction this week in Chicago. There are a whole raft of tastings and bar appearances. I've summarized some of the bigger events here, but you can see more at Deschutes' Event Page!

Join Woody, the giant beer barrel-on-wheels, and some of the crew from Deschutes for a sampling of beers crafted for explorers everywhere, now available throughout Chicagoland. We will have a special rare barrel on tap just for this event.

7:00 pm - 12:00 am ♦ Big Ass Beer Night at Sheffield's Beer & Wine Garden

Since the bitter cold is starting to freeze the Windy City over, we thought we’d dig out some fun rarities out of the basement. Big Ass Beer Night features only beers over 10% ABV, and some delicious and rare ones at that. 2013 Big Ass Beer Night will be happening at 7pm in the Beer School Bar of Sheffield’s so bring a drinking buddy, this should be tasty treat. 9:00 pm ♦ Chicago Recycling fundraiser with Oskar Blues

Oskar Blues will be donating beers for a Chicago Recycling fundraiser where 100% of the proceeds go to the cause. Dales Pale Ale, Mama's Pils, Old Chub and Ten FIDY will be paired with a four-course beer dinner. A representative from Oskar Blues will be there to provide information about the awesome beers. If you miss this event, a DMK will host a second fundraising event January 28.

Tuesday, Jan. 15

Deschutes' Woody, their good-times-on-wheels mobile bar, will be making a brief stop at the Tap House Grill in Westmont to say hi and pose for a few photos. Swing by and meet the crew, snap a photo or two, and you, too, could make the Flickr gallery of fame like these guys to the right. Inside they'll be pouring our flagship favorites.

6:00 - 9:00 pm ♦ Hats off to Homebrewers with Deschutes

Hey there homebrewers - Haymarket is partnering with Deschutes to celebrate their launch in Chicago...with a Hats off to Homebrewers party! We'll be featuring flights of Deschutes beer paired with appetizers from the Haymarket kitchen, as well as glassware giveaways, clone recipe books and whole hops giveaways as well! Come on out, meet their brewer and give them a warm welcome to Chicago!

The third installment of our winter beer dinners is upon us! We are thrilled to welcome the much loved Firestone Walker brewery for our first beer dinner of 2013. Seatings are at 6pm and 9pm. The dinner will include four savory courses and one dessert course, each paired with a different beer, both classics and seasonals. Also available that night on draft will be Firestone Walker’s ultra-rare “XVI” anniversary ale, as well as other specials! To make a reservation, email Tickets are $50.

We will also be sampling our current seasonal offering and "World's Best Beer" award winner for 2012, Red Chair NWPA.

Join Emmett's for one of our widely popular Brewmaster Dinners. The event starts at 6:30 pm with a beer reception where attendees can sample their choice of any of our handcrafted beers. During the reception hour Brewmaster Rob Hunter and the brewing staff, will conduct tours of our brewery and explain the beer making process. During dinner our chef and Rob will passionately explain their handiwork and how it applies to each of the five delicious courses.
