Nearly 50,000 attendees, judges, brewers and volunteers attended the three-day event, including 578 brewers pouring 36,000 gallons of beer, according to the Brewers Association. 676 breweries were entered into the competition representing 48 states, Guam and Washington, D.C., including 154 First-time entrants into the competition. The judging covered 84 categories, representing 134 distinct beer styles, including, for the first time "Fresh Hop Ales."

Five different three-hour judging sessions take place over the three-day period during the week of the festival. Judges are assigned beers to evaluate in their specific area of expertise and never judge their own product or any product in which they have a concern.

This is the 31st year for the Great American Beer Festival.

  • Good stuff. I kinda dug Revolution's Cross of Gold when i tried it, though friends tried to persuade me otherwise. Also good to see 5 Rabbit and Two Brothers show up. They do solid work.
