Sixpoint Brewery hosts Chicago debut events this week
Sixpoint Brewery

Sixpoint Brewery is making a big entrance this week into the Chicago market. This Brooklyn, NY, brewer has lined up a series of debut events not seen since, perhaps, the coming of Stone to the Chicago market two years ago.

The craft brewery was founded in 2004 as Sixpoint Craft Ales, a microbrewery with a bar attached in Brooklyn's Red Hook neighborhood. Founder Shane welch chose the name from the six-pointed star used as a mark of the brewing profession.

Over the years, Sixpoint began bottling, and then canning its brews and expanding into retail markets across the east. To keep up with demand, Sixpoint has had to outsource some of its brewing to Lion Brewery in Wilkes-Barre, PA, just at most of the Broklyn Brewery product comes to us from Utica, NY. Many of its beers have remained popular, and have inspired "wants" on beer fans' trade lists.

Sixpoint has launched a "Sixpoint Brewery Tour of Chicago" to mark its entrance into the market. Most of the information on the event, which started Sunday, can be found on a special Facebook page. Here are highlights of these events, with details on beers to be offered.
