4:00 - 11:30 p.m. "It Might Get Wild" - A Night Of Wild & Sour Beers
Fountainhead, 1970 W. Montrose Ave., Chicago (773) 697-8204
The next in our "It Might Get..." series, this time we are featuring beers with wild yeast. Unlike conventional ales and lagers, which are fermented by carefully cultivated strains of brewer’s yeasts, lambics and other wild yeast beers are sometimes produced by spontaneous fermentation: it is exposed to the wild yeasts and bacteria that are said to be native to the Senne Valley in Belgium. It is this unusual process that gives the beer its distinctive flavor: dry, vinous, and cidery, usually with a sour and/or funky aftertaste. This might just be our wildest “It Might Get…” yet!
Allagash - Old HLT; New Belgium - Clutch and La Terrior; Victory - Wild Devil; New Holland - Blue Sunday; Dogfish Head - Noble Rot; Evil Twin - Ron & The Beast Ryan; Jolly Pumpkin - Noel de Calabaza and Maracaibo; Cisco Brewers - Monomoy Kriek & Lady of the Woods; Petrus - Aged Pale; Allagash/New Belgium - Vrienden; Stillwater - Bri-Witter Weisse and Premium; Two Brothers - Askew; Brouwerij Timmermans - Bourgogne Des Flandres; Hitachino - 3 Days; Oude Gueuze Tilquin à L'Ancienne; Anderson Valley - Gatlin Damnosus; Vicardin Tripel Gueuze; and maybe a couple more treats.
Tomme Arthur of Lost Abbey will be our very special guest! Tomme is bringing a very rare keg of his Red Poppy to add to our "Wild" list. We are super excited to be pouring a Cask of Half Acre Cactus Pear & Brett Gossamer too! Latest updates on the event's Facebook Page.

In November of 2007, Jim opened the doors of the Milwaukee Brewing Company, a 50 bbl brewhouse and packaging facility located on 2nd Street in the Walker’s Point area of Milwaukee. We'll be tapping our next beer, the Opening Day Pils, to welcome the beginning of baseball season, namely the Cubs' first game (I know you south side'ers might be hating, but you know as well as anyone that the sad truth is the Cubs are prolly the best chance for post season) Anywho, about the beer...it's a nice, lightly hopped and soft bready malt body pilsner (try saying that five times fast) At about 5.2% abv, it makes for the perfect replacement of Old Style to session the game with, and with this early summer, makes for a great warmer weather beer. We'll be tapping into the beer with the first pitch of the game, at 1:20pm, and will be doing the normal tapping occasion at 5:00 p.m. in our pub room.
