Our favorite beer event of the season is here: Stout Fest 2012. During January, we're offering 24 delicious stouts on tap. We tapped the first 12 stouts at Midnight on New Year's Eve, and the next batch of 12 on Sunday, January 15th. Here’s a list of the great brews we’re offering:

Monday, January 16

7:00 p.m. • Lowcountry Beer Dinner & Shrimp Boil
Revolution Brewing, 2323 N Milwaukee Ave., Chicago (773) 227-BREW
Featuring the cuisine of South Carolina and places nearby, courtesy of a couple of our chefs who talk a bit funny and hail from around there. $65/person Price includes gratuity. Look for our menu and reserve online at revbrew.com/lowcountry This is a ticketless event, so just show an ID at the door. If you want to sit with others, please list your group name in the comment box at checkout. Must be 21 years old.

7:00 p.m. • Tickets on sale for Map Room Beer School

Tickets go on sale this evening starting at 7 p.m. Cash only, maximum 2 tickets per purchase, and first come-first serve until all tickets have been sold. Greg Browne, brewmaster at Mickey Finn's Brewery in Libertyville, guides us through the nuances of beer and its appreciation. Next class - Saturday, January 21, 6 pm. Topic: Barley Wines. Limit, 45 people. Price, $25 per person.

9:00 p.m. • 3rd Monday, 3 Floyds, 3 Taps

This Monday, it's the first in a monthly series we're doing: 3rd Monday, 3 Floyds, 3 Taps. Starting at 9:00 p.m., we'll have two rare beers from the beloved brewery on tap (the third being one of their flagship beers, in this case, Gumball Head). This month, we'll have their Black  Sun Stout and Rune Priest, a bad ass Belgian style-pale (brewed with Sorachi Ace Hops for all you beer nerds). Beers are tapped at 9, and they're up until they're gone. Come drink up!

Tuesday,  January 17

5:00 p.m. • 2010 Bourbon County Stout Tapping

We’re tapping our cellared barrel of 2010 Bourbon County Stout to help mitigate the effects of Chicago’s harsh winter and its recent arrival. We’ve been patiently aging this barrel for over a year, and since Goose Island didn’t release Bourbon County Stout in barrels in 2011, this is a rare treat, indeed.

6:00 - 8:00 p.m. • Bishop Belgian Tripel tapping

Y'all all come out and celebrate Bishop, the first born boy child of brewer Davin Bartosch, and the first born Belgian Tripel of the same name. Bishop is around 7 lb. and 20 inches long. He is also 8.8% alcohol and made with imported European malts and hops. Sometimes Bishop cries all night long. Sometimes Bishop sleeps undisturbed for a month. Either way they are both beautiful and blonde headed. Both will be served at 6:00 PM on January 17th. Get your party hats and your glasses!

We team up with Windy City Distribution for Oyster Fest! A seven course beer dinner! We've come up with seven delicious courses celebrating the oyster, then turned them over to Certified Cicerone Dan Schnarr of Windy City Distribution to pair them with beers from their extensive portfolio, including Smuttynose Star Island Single, Green Flash West Coast IPA, Left Hand Milk Stout, Avery White Rascal, Anderson Valley Boont Amber, and JK's Scrumpy Solstice Cider. It’s Our Turn To Serve: Earn a free logo pint glass and a raffle ticket for a drawing the night of our January tapping!! Lombard Rock Bottom will be sponsoring a drive to support the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans (MSHV) during all of January. MSHV is located in Wheaton, and is a transitional living facility for US Veterans of any era who need assistance gaining independent living skills. We're kicking off our 12th Anniversary in very exciting fashion. Two great breweries will be sharing the stage with some outstanding offerings. In addition it's the Release Party for the Three Floyds/Brewdog Collaboration-Bitch Please (22 oz btls). On Tap: Three Floyds: Arctic Panzer Wolf, Rune Priest, Jinx Proof, Dreadnaught, Pride & Joy. Dogfish Head: Hellhound on My Ale, Bitches Brew, Pearl Jam Faithfull, Ta Henket, Olde School Barley Wine-Aged over a year in our cellar.
