Our favorite beer event of the season is here: Stout Fest 2012. During January, we will be offering 24 delicious stouts on tap. We tapped the first 12 stouts at Midnight on New Year's Eve. We plan to tap the next batch of 12 on Sunday, January 15th. Here’s a list of the great brews we’ll be offering:
- Group 1: Mikkeller Bourbon Black Hole, Denmark – 13.1%. Marston’s Oyster Stout, UK – 4.5%. Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, NY –10.6%. Great Lakes Blackout Stout, OH – 9.0%. Lion Stout, Sri Lanka – 8.0%. Two Brothers Northwind Imperial Stout, IL – 8.5%.
- Group 2: Big Sky Oatmeal, MT – 5.4%. Nøgne Ø Imperial Stout, Norway – 9.0%. Great Divide Oak Aged Yeti, CO – 9.5%. Mendocino Black Hawk Stout, NY & CA – 5.2%. Bell’s Expedition Stout, MI – 10.5%. Rogue Imperial Stout, OR – 11.6% ABV.

We'll be tapping a Belgian Abbey-style Quadruple This is a new addition to the Haymarket lineup, so make sure you're there to be among the first to sample. We'll be pouring samples to our card carrying union members. If you haven't already picked up your card, please let us know if you'll be joining us so we can have your card ready for you when you arrive.

The Double in Logan Square will be tapping all 3 of the Dogfish Head Sony Legacy Brews. Miles Davis Bitches' Brew, Robert Johnson Hellhound on My Ale and Pearl Jam Faithfull will be offered in a tasting flight as well as individually. Donn from Dogfish Head will be on hand to answer and questions about the Brewery and/or the brews.

We’ll be kicking off a whole new year of beer tastings with some very special stouts and porters. Expect a dozen selections from all over the world, including a few rarities out of our cellar. While it all started in England and Ireland, American Craft Breweries have really taken stout to a whole new level. We’re hosting this gratuitous tasting of some of the best stouts America has to offer, including some special vintage selections from our cellar. These are some of the richest, boldest beers out there, and not for the faint of heart. Here’s what we’ll be tasting: Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout (very limited), North Coast Barrel Aged Old Rasputin (2009 Vintage), Lost Abbey Serpent Stout (2009 Vintage), Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout, Three Floyds Black Sun Stout, Stone Cherry Stout, Great Lakes Blackout Stout, Victory Dark Intrigue, Dogfish Head Chicory Stout, Dark Horse Too Cream Stout, Avery Czar Russian Imperial Stout, Left Hand Wake Up Dead. $30/person, reservations are highly recommended. Join us for a night filled with abominable brews from Great Divide Brewing Company! Four variations of Yeti Imperial Stout on Draft on One Special Night! We just got confirmation that we will have a keg of Bell's Hopslam at the South Loop Tasting Room. That means we can throw a super awesome Hopslam release party! $8 for your first pour of Hopslam. Our first official tapping of the year sees a return of our Belgian Dubbel. Darker and maltier than either the Blitzen or the Devil's Thumb the Fallen Angel has a spicy yeast flavor with hints of dark fruits and a rich malt flavor. We will be pairing this up in the Brew house with a special creation from Jose Torre, our executive chef.
