Beeronaut's Chicago weekend, December 2 to 4

Advance Notice:

Tickets are on sale Thursday, Dec. 1 for the 2012 Michigan Winter Beer Festival. The outdoor celebration of Michigan craft beer will be held from 1-6 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park, just north of Grand Rapids.

This party, organized by the Michigan Brewers Guild, sells out fast, so buying your tickets in advance is strongly encouraged. The MBG expects more than 300 beers from more than 50 breweries. There will also be live music and food.

Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door, if the event hasn't sold out. Admission includes 15 drink tokens. Additional tokens may also be purchased.

Saturday December 3

12:00 - 5:00 p.m. Christmas & Winter Beer Tasting – 13th Anniversary

Delilah's 13th Annual Christmas and Winter beer tasting is the largest tasting of Christmas and Winter beers anywhere in North America. There will be 100+ beers available to sample from all over the globe – many brands in multiple vintages. Some of the beers included in this tasting are Anchor Christmas Ale (10 vintages), King & Barnes Christmas Ale (3 vintages), Sam Smith’s Winter Welcome (6 vintages), Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale (8 vintages) + Goose Island Christmas Ale, Three Floyds Alpha Claus Christmas Porter, Lakefront Holiday Spice Lager, Summit Winter Ale, Capital Winter Skål, and St Feuillien Cuvée de Noël.
The cost to attend the tasting is $20.00. 20 sample tickets and information about the beers will be provided.

10:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. Nomad Planets at Beer Geeks for Food Bank of NW Indiana

Nomad Planets' 4th Annual Holiday Food Drive takes place at Beer Geeks. "We'll play a set of holiday tunes - including "Let's Leave A Bottle Out For Santa", our brand new Christmas song - to start out the evening, and then we'll finish up the night with a set of our original music. As if that weren't enough, Jodi Rosenthal from Lying Delilah and Steven Aguilar from Temporary Distraction will join in on the fun during our set of holiday songs! As is custom at these shows, you must also bring at least one non-perishable food item (though more is certainly appreciated) to get through the door. All items go to the Food Bank of NW Indiana, so please give as generously as you can to help your neighbors in need."  The show is free, but entry is limited to 21 and over.

Sunday, December 4

Join Quencher's for a delicious spit roasted Slagel farms pig and more! All proceeds go to Friends of Burr Elementary School. Bears game kicks off at Noon, food will be served starting at half-time. There will also be a raffle of items donated by Metropolitan Brewing, Revolution Brewing, Goose Island and other local merchants. Must be 21+ to attend. Tickets are $25 online through

12:00 noon Mickey Finn's Chili-Cook Off

Tickets are on sale now for Mickey Finn's Chili Cook-Off. $10 gets you into the tasting plus two free Finn's beers. Buy them early. We sold out last year. We still have room for contestants. Entry forms available at the bar.

The Bears play Kansas City at Noon. Shortly after kickoff, our pal Robin from the HomeMade Pizza Company will be cooking up some fresh gourmet pizzas for one and all. The playoff-bound Bears on our flat-screens, 26 phenomenal beers on tap (plus another on the beer engine), hundreds of great bottles, special-priced Bloody Marys and Mimosas, and fresh hot, bubbly gourmet pizza!
