Friday, October 21

5:30 p.m. Metropolitan’s Carburetor Rye Bock #58 Release Party

City Provisions' second October beer release will be a special weekend event with Cleetus’s collaboration with Metropolitan Brewing Company. The single keg of Carburetor Rye Bock #58, a double dark rye that was aged in a Templeton Rye barrel for eight months, will be available on tap exclusively at City Provisions for the whole weekend or until it runs out.

6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Finch's Beer tasting

A representative from Finch's Beer Co. will be on hand to sample out Cut Throuat Pale Ale and Golden Wing Blonde Ale. Join us and sample their new brew and support our local breweries. Also, we have Apple Pie shots and Cherry Pie shots liqueur that we will be sampling.

6:00 - 7:30 p.m. The Grand Beer Tour

Take a tasting tour of Europe's traditional beer producing nations. Jim Blockinger of Merchant du Vin will pour samples from Belgium, England, and Germany and discuss their respective beer cultures and brewing histories. Saturday, October 22

10:30 a.m. Founders CBS Breakfast Release Party

(I'm listing this because there may be some of your still wanting to get in on some Founders' Canadian Breakfast Stout. On tap, yet.) Be one of the select 50 people to sample CBS on draft. For this special release we are paying homage to one of our favorite breweries by throwing a breakfast party. This will be a ticketed event that will allow the lucky few admittance to a truly unique breakfast experience. No lines, no overcrowded atmosphere, you’ll be able to just sit back and enjoy yourself because no one else will even be admitted into the building. Tickets are on sale now at RIBCO and are $25 so get them while they last! Your ticket includes admission into the building at 9:30 am, a 6 oz pour of the CBS in a commemorative glass, a pint of Breakfast Stout (for comparative purposes of course) served in another commemorative glass, and a plate of fresh, hot breakfast including pancakes, eggs, bacon, and Canadian bacon. Tickets are on a first come first serve basis and purchasers must be present that morning between 9:30 and 10:30 to redeem (no exchanges or refunds). An all day event celebrating the tastes of the season! Eight German and fall seasonal beers on tap, several more in bottles. (That's Eastern Daylight Time, remember) I heard a lot of people go to South Bend on weekends for some sporting event or other, so:
Sponsored by Indiana Beer. If the weather holds, the event will be under a tent on the Island next to the Century Center. There will be several new breweries as well as some breweries that are not yet open. Here is a partial listing: Bare Hands Brewing, Founders, Four Horsemen, Greenbush, Iechyd Da, New Belgium, New Holland, North Coast, Upland, Bell's, 3 Floyds, Barley Island, Boulevard, Dark Horse, and Oaken Barrel. Your $25 ticket will get you unlimited 4 oz. pours in a logo pint glass with lanyard. There will also be a festival program and beer list for taking notes. Tickets are sold from the Morris Center Performing Arts Center Box Office. If tickets are not sold out before hand, they will be available for $30 at the door.

1:00 - 4:00 p.m. 2nd Annual Big Muddy Monster Brewfest

I'm offering a note here about one of Southern Illinois' fast growing beer scene, and I'm sure everyone down there is glad to have them!  The Friends of Murphysboro are proud to announce the second annual Big Muddy MonsterBrew Festival. Your ticket to this bigfoot beer brew-ha will let you taste a number of craft beers and access to a day of great events,including live music, beer seminars, and vendors. There’s also a sanctioned home brew contest. $100. North Side Housing and Supportive Services is hosting their annual benefit dinner. The menu has been specifically crafted to pair with GI beers. There will be an after party til midnight ($50) hosted by GI with unlimited beer or wine as well.
