Chicago Craft Beer Week, Monday, May 23

Hey folks, American Craft Beer Week may be over, but the events still pile on thick and fast for Chicago Craft Beer Week. Just look at everything planned for Monday (some of these are regular events outside the purview of CCBW).

5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Brew Masters Series

A weekly pairing of Craft Brewed beer and specially created burgers from Chef
Evan Percoco. This week featuring Half Acre's Daisy Cutter and a Portabella Burger (portabella mushroom, roasted red peppers, mozzarella cheese and crispy polenta fries). This beer & burger pairing is also available all month, Monday-Sunday after 2 p.m. for $10.

5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Craft Beer Tasting at Finnegan's

Head out to Finnegans for a complimentary craft beer tasting every Monday. One of our Cicerones will pull new beers recently added to the list and provide some background on each style and samples for you to taste. All beer being sampled with be on special so if you find a favorite, you can enjoy it with out damaging the wallet!

6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Central Waters Chicago Launch

We are very excited to welcome one of Wisconsin's best breweries to Chicago. Anello Mollica, Central Waters' brewer, will be on hand to answer questions and share a few pints.
In bottles: Illumination Double IPA Can you say Palate Wrecker? This double IPA comes in at 108 IBUs. As hoppy as it gets with a mouthful of citrus flavors. Grab onetoday and illuminate your tastebuds. 9% ABV
On tap: Glacial Trail IPA. This American style IPA is liberally hopped for a taste bud adventure! Slightly malty with a citrus floral hops right up front, a true hophead dream. 5.5% ABV.
Mud Puppy Porter. A robust, yet surprisingly refreshing porter, Mud Puppy is a favorite of dark beer lovers. Characterized by a thick, rocky head and luscious chocolate-like nose, the malty profile is balanced by liberal hopping for its style. 5.5% ABV
Satin Solstice Imperial Stout. This smooth, creamy stout and a crackling fireplace are the perfect answer to a wintery evening in Wisconsin. The rich coffee flavor compliments the "warm, fuzzy feeling" you get from the abundant alcohol. Enjoy in moderation. 7.5%
And the only keg in Illinois of Bourbon Barrel Cherry Stout. Eighty pounds of tart Door County Cherries are thown into each oak barrel with a rich Imperial Stout then aged for 6 months. A 2006 Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal Winner in the oak and barrel aged strong beer category.

6:00 - 11:00 p.m. Chicago Craft Beer Week Rare Beer Tapping

For Chicago Craft Beer Week we decided to go deep into our cooler and tap something we have been saving for a special occasion. We will be tapping our Half Acre Baumé barrel with Half Acre Meat Wave. 6:00 p.m. "Pig-out Under the Stars" Chef & Brewer Dinner

Chef Christopher McCoy will be revisiting this amazing theme. Each course, a finely prepared dish utilizing different cuts of our favorite "other white meat;" paired with Rock Bottom and select locally produced beers. Dinner to be served, weather permitting, "al fresco" on our rooftop patio. Welcome beer at 6:00 p.m.. Cost is $50 all inclusive of tax and service. 6:30 p.m. Founders Beer and Wisconsin Cheese Dinner

Cost: $38 per person. Attention Chicago-area Founders foodies. The Kendall College School of Culinary Arts has been hard at work planning the menu:
Each banquet begins at 7:00 p.m. (seating begins at 6:30 p.m.) and consists of a set five-course menu featuring Founders beer and select Wisconsin cheeses. The Monday Night Dining Series is $38 per person, per banquet, which includes non-alcoholic beverages and sales tax, but does not include gratuity. Draft lineup will include: 17th Anniversary Ale, Hoss Rye Lager, Hades, Hercules Double IPA, Claymore Scotch Ale, Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti, and Colette Saison (the 2010 Silver Medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival).

7:00 p.m. Metropolitan & Two Brothers Night
