Hey, anything happen yesterday? No? Okay, good. The calendar for Chicago Craft Beer Week is a little light today. Maybe I can go to sleep early for once. Note that these are all the beer-centric events scheduled for today, not just the CCBW ones.

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Urban Assault Ride
Murphy's Bleachers, 3655 N. Sheffield, Chicago (773) 281-5356
New Belgium's Urban Assault Ride is the biggest bicycle scavenger hunt series in the nation! You and your teammate will set out on a city-wide quest for 'checkpoints' on your favorite two-wheeled steeds. At each checkpoint, you'll drop your bikes and complete a funky/adventurous obstacle course, then remount your bikes and hit the streets for more. The goal is to complete all the checkpoints in the shortest amount of time. You choose your own route and checkpoint order. This means that the most clever are often the victors. Of course, it may also help if you can pull a mean big-wheel powerslide and fly across an inflatable slip-n-slide ;)
After your pedal-powered adventure, your team will cross the finish line and enter a massive celebration of New Belgium beer, bikes, and big wheels. The after party is just as much fun as the ride itself, thanks to the craziest raffle prize contest you'll ever experience.
Price: Only $65/person! You'll get a 100% cotton t-shirt, New Belgium Brewing Zip Pouch by Green Guru Gear, Jack Link's Beef Jerky, Clif Bars, UAR stickers lots of New Belgium beer, tasty snacks, donation to charities, and raffle ticket entries!
Online Registration closes Friday, May 20th, at 5pm
Packet Pick Up: (Saturday 5/21 11-2pm)

6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Chicago History Museum IPA Boat Tour
Chicago History Museum
India Pale Ale (IPA) has deep roots and ties to ship travel. Wesley Phillips, Certified Cicerone from Windy City Distribution, will discuss the historical significance of the IPA and its place in American Craft brewing. You'll also enjoy four varying types of IPAs, and brewery representatives will be on hand to join you on your journey along the beautiful blue waters of the Chicago River and Lake Michigan. It won't take as long as the trip from England to India, but you'll cover more than 200 years of brewing history in two hours. Presented in collaboration with Windy City Distribution. Four beers will provide a liquid history of IPA development from the late 1700's through today: Two Brothers Bitter End Pale Ale (draft), Avery IPA (in cans), Lagunitas IPA (draft), Stone Sublimely Self Righteous (draft). Cost: $65; $60 Chicago History Museum Members. Tickets: services.chicagohistory.org
7:00 p.m. He'brew Brewing event
Hopleaf, 5148 N. Clark St. Chicago (773) 334-9851
Enjoy an evening with us and Shmaltz Brewing Founder Jeremy Cowan! We'll sample special He'brew Beers and eat Romanian Kosher Sausages and Hopleaf's latkes (made with He'Brew Messiah Bold!) and celebrate the inauguration of Chicago's first Jewish mayor, Rahm Emmanuel. We are inviting him and hoping we can toast to his success with He'brew beers. Last time Jeremy Cowan visited us, our faces almost hurt from smiling and laughing so much... but of course, we were drinking these excellent beers, so we all felt really fine. This event takes place in Hopleaf's upstairs bar, and space is limited. $40 per person, tickets available at Brown Paper Tickets.
