The Bavarian Lodge, 1800 Ogden Ave, Lisle, IL (630) 241-4701
Calling All Smoked Beer Fans! As a special wintertime treat, we'll be tapping a gravity-fed wooden cask of Schlenkerla Eiche "Oak Smoke" Doppelbock from Brauerei Heller-Trum of Bamberg, Germany. The cask will be tapped right on the bar and available for purchase on a first come, first served basis.
Traditionally, the malt at the Schlenkerla brewery is smoked over beech wood. However, the malt for Schlenkerla Eiche "Oak Smoke" is kilned exclusively with oak, creating a smoother and more complex smokiness, perfectly balanced by the bitterness of Germany's finest Hallertau hops. This glorious, rich, deep amber-hued smoked doppelbock is brewed to a bold, warming 8% ABV. This beer is then matured for several months in the cellars underneath the brewery in Bamberg. Brewed once a year for a winter release, this is a special treat for smoked beer lovers. The special wooden cask will be available to everyone in both the restaurant and pub. No RSVP Required; No Cover Charge. 21 & Over Only in the Pub Room.
