Join SmallBar for the first of their monthly cask nights, every 3rd Friday of the month. This month they'll be tapping a cask of Left Hand Brewing's new Fade to Black. This seasonal is for that time of year when the day seems to fade away. Drifting further into the darkness with each passing day. Fade to Black is a big, smoked Foreign/Export stout in the 8% ABV range.

Join Finnegan's for a Wild Game Feast and Barley Wine pairing.
The menu consists of Elk Osso Bucco with Gorgonzola Risotto, Wild Boar Albondigas with Roasted Scallion & Garlic Aioli, Barleywine Braised Venison Ribs with Carolina Slaw and Bison Sliders with Barleywine BBQ Sauce all served buffet style.
The list of barley wines is as follows:

Each person receives 8 tickets good for one 4 oz. pour per ticket. Tickets for the event are $65 each

The Drinking & Writing Theater @ Haymarket Pub and Brewery opens with first show. Drinking & Writing Volume III, To Cure A Hangover! If you've never seen the show shame on you. This show will run Saturdays through Feb. 5th.

This weekend's show follows the release of Haymarket's "Mathias", an Imperial IPA dry hopped with 22 pounds of Citra hops. It's a big, delicious,beer with a big hop finish that will be released exclusively in The Drinking & Writing Theater at 3:30 p.m., before the performance. Mathias Imperial IPA is named after Police Officer Mathias Degan, the first of eight officers to die in the historic Haymarket Tragedy which took place just 2 blocks away from the Haymarket Pub and Brewery.

Oh yeah, that's the big deal this weekend:
Expect radio coverage to be swamped with commercials for a tasteless lite beer that is somehow made better because the bottle has grooves in it. Your local pouring house will no doubt want you to come for a visit. I do have some beers from Hinterland of Green Bay I might do a comparison tasting for this week. No, when it comes to beer, I can be objective...
