If you find yourself out at North Avenue Beach today, you may end up seeing more than you bargained for just the annual air and water show. Because believe it or not, today is actually National GoTopless Day!
Sponsored by GoTopless.org, the organization aims for equal topless rights for all or none. Yes boys, you read that right...and this clearly is an initiative you could--and should--get behind.
Here in Chicago, they have timed the GoTopless initiative with the Air and Water show. So from noon until 5pm, you'll want to see the scene over at North Avenue Beach by the walkway overpass by the Castaway Boathouse.
But before you go running to the beach looking for beautiful Lincoln Park Trixies bearing their ta-ta's for all to see, you should be warned. The Topless March is actually predominately sponsored by men, and thus, you will find men walking around in bras and womens bikinis [although the occasional bare-breasted woman will be in tow as well]. While not nearly as mouth-watering for you...it's still highly impactful imagery while spreading the message of equal topless rights.
“It’s no more ridiculous than women having to wear tops at all time in this double-standard, topless battle that’s being waged in public and in the courts,” said Nadine Gary, president of GoTopless.org.
Afterall, if men can go topless, why can't women?
