It's a Bird! It's a Plane! No...It's Oprah in the Sky!

In today's edition of Uhh...REALLY!? ...United Airlines has unveiled the Oprah Winfrey Farewell Season Plane.

Because clearly, the world's most popular talk show needs a dedicated airplane for its final season. Perhaps when Oprah wraps on her very last episode, she'll resurrect John Denver from the dead and have him serenade her with "Leaving on a Jet Plane" as she boards this magnificent vessel and fly off into the sunset...okay, okay...back on subject...

The Oprah Plane...in all its glory.

But it's not just any plane. It's a freshly painted Boeing 757 is decked out in The Oprah Winfrey Show Farewell Season imagery. The interior is said to be specially decorated (did Nate Berkus have anything to do with this?!) and passengers were greeted with a personal message from Oprah on the in-flight video boards--you can check out her personal message here. And so today, said plane took its inaugural flight from Chicago's O'Hare airport to Los Angeles with United employees and some of Oprah's adoring fans on board. Pretty snazzy for a day's work. Right?

During the flight, one of the passengers is going to win the trip of their dreams by receiving enough miles from United for a trip around the world. Everyone else will walk away with a special monogrammed "Oprah 25" fleece blanket (you know...so you no longer have to pay $7 to use a crappy used blanket full of other people's body hair on a flight ever again). Also with this flight, Oprah helped launch the airline's United Million Mile Giveaway, a sweepstakes that will give one million United Mileage Plus miles to one lucky winner each month through May 2011. So while we clearly weren't cool enough to board Oprah's exclusive flight, we can at least get a fair shot at picking up some serious miles.

Here's a look at how the tail of the plane was transformed...and be sure to click here to see the entire transformation timelapsed.

Le sigh. It must be nice to have a plane dedicated to your awesomeness. But even so, the jury is still out on whether or not this is awesome or just plain ridiculous. In the meantime, I do have a special request for Oprah...

Hey Op...[yeah...I'm on a nickname basis with the talk show queen]...care to take me for a flight? And while you're at it...invite me to your Favorite Things episode!? Kthxbai!

Keep it Awesome, kids.
