The Anti-Cruelty Society is Chicago’s largest and oldest, private, non-profit, open-door animal welfare organization celebrating 114 years of our commitment to caring for animals and educating people. Our programs and services help over 50,000 animals and humans every year and include: pet adoptions, charity veterinary clinic, low/no-cost spay/neuter clinic, cruelty investigations and rescue, humane education (including an anti-violence after-school program and veterinary mentoring program in partnership with the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine), pet visitation, free behavior hotline, dog training classes, S.A.F.E. program (providing temporary housing for pets whose owners are involved in crisis situations such as domestic violence, medical emergencies, fires, floods, and home foreclosure), pet first aid & CPR classes, pet loss and grief support group, pet rehabilitation & treatment, and a foster program helping us to save more lives. As a founding member of the Chicago Animal Shelter Alliance (CASA), we continue to work together with other Chicago shelters to find a home for every adoptable and treatable cat and dog in Chicago.

    Tatiana's Tails

Tatiana grew up with dogs, cats, hamsters, parrots, rabbits, guinea pigs, and an iguana… just to name a few pets. She began her professional career with animals in 1995 at Brookfield Zoo. Tatiana has studied wild dolphins in Australia and rescued wildlife in Florida, but she always says that people are truly at the heart of her work. The welfare of people and animals is connected through a shared environment and the same traits of empathy and compassion that make someone a good pet owner also simply make people better neighbors and citizens. If it walks, hops, or slithers, Tatiana cares about it. She currently oversees the Humane Education programs at The Anti-Cruelty Society, hosts "Chicago Tails" on Watch312.com, and is a Guest Blogger for Tails Inc.
