1-year-old hound/shepherd mix (at the Society's Everyday Adoption Center in the PetSmart South Loop)
Breslin is a handsome and playful adolescent who has come a long way in just a few days. He was very fearful at first, but he shows us more of his silly, happy side each day. He will need an adopter who understands that he may continue to be worried about certain things and he needs to get used to things at his own pace. Consistent limits, along with patient guidance and gentle feedback, will help Breslin become comfortable in his new home and increase his confidence. In turn, he will be a wonderful companion for years to come.
6-year-old domestic shorthair mix (currently in foster, needs to find a home before coming back to the shelter because she stops eating while she is here)
Kat is a gorgeous girl who came to The Anti-Cruelty Society when her owner was moving and couldn't take her along. This beautiful gal is currently in foster care on what we call a "shelter vacation". Sometimes great pets simply become extremely stressed in a shelter and do better being fostered in a volunteer's home. Even though she's not currently on-site, she's still available for adoption. When Kat arrived at the shelter, her beautiful coat was matted and she has been given a haircut to make her more comfortable. Kat is a friendly, sweet kitty who enjoys playing with dangly toys! Sometimes she likes to cuddle; other times she prefers to be left to ponder important matters, like the location of her next nap. Kat is a great communicator and will always let you know what she wants, and doesn't. Planning a 20 minute petting session? She may just want to pencil you in for 10 before moving on to her next activity. Kat will likely need some help settling in to her new home. Tuna seems to be a great tool at her foster home! We also recommend using Comfort Zone to relax her. If you're looking for that special someone to share your life with, schedule a meeting with Kat -- she is a great girl!
