The Anti-Cruelty Society's Cat and Dog of the Week

The Anti-Cruelty Society's Cat and Dog of the Week

4-year-old male pit bull mix

Pancho is a friendly boy. He's a little anxious at the shelter, but will ideally settle down given time and positive socialization to new environments. He's quite the gentleman with both people and dogs - never getting too pushy or physical. He hasn't settled down with a bone or engaged in toy play, so new adopters should use good judgment when introducing these items in a home, and should teach him a reliable "drop it" cue for high value items. Pancho works nicely for treats and is very gentle. He will make a solid companion for a lucky adopter.

11-year-old female domestic shorthair mix

Annie is a special cat looking for a special someone. This cutie was brought to The Anti-Cruelty Society by her mother, who is very sick and no longer able to care for her. It broke her mom's heart to give her up, and it's clear to see why. Annie may take some time to warm up to people, but once she does, she loves them!! Annie is quite talkatAnnieive and will happily tell you about her day when you come home from work, then return the favor and listen to all you have to say about yours. An older girl, Annie doesn't require a lot of play time; rolling on the floor and stretching are her regular forms of exercise. As the saying goes, with age comes wisdom and Annie knows what she likes. Annie does have her limits for petting, especially early in a relationship. She lived with cats, but would likely be happiest as the only apple of your eye. Annie is ready and waiting for a true cat lover to take her home and allow her to be her funny, charming self. Come by and ask at the front desk to meet Annie!

The Anti-Cruelty Society is located at 510 N LaSalle, Chicago, IL 60654.

    Tatiana's Tails

Tatiana grew up with dogs, cats, hamsters, parrots, rabbits, guinea pigs, and an iguana… just to name a few pets. She began her professional career with animals in 1995 at Brookfield Zoo. Tatiana has studied wild dolphins in Australia and rescued wildlife in Florida, but she always says that people are truly at the heart of her work. The welfare of people and animals is connected through a shared environment and the same traits of empathy and compassion that make someone a good pet owner also simply make people better neighbors and citizens. If it walks, hops, or slithers, Tatiana cares about it. She currently oversees the Humane Education programs at The Anti-Cruelty Society, hosts "Chicago Tails" on, and is a Guest Blogger for Tails Inc.
